I generated a pocket query of the valley caches last night. At first it didn't run so I modified it this morning and it said it ran the query. However, I never received the e-mail. Can anyone give me any hints as to what I am doing wrong? I had it zip the file as the site recommends but I am still getting no mail message. I have only run one other query of downtown Anchorage caches and that one ran super quick, was in my e-mail box within minutes literally.

Is it set to run one time? I know it will only run one time in 24 hours. I have mine set to run every day, that way I know I am going to get at least one email. I had one do the same thing so I deleted it and made another one and it works just fine and as far as I know they were the same. You can also use GSAK and build your own, it is a great program.
good luck - ;D

What is GSAK? I have never heard of it. And keep in mind I know just enough about computers to get myself in trouble.

Info from their website: gsak.net/GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) GSAK is the all in one Geocaching and waypoint management tool. Major features include: Multiple databases, sending/receiving waypoints to GPSr, conversion to many mapping formats, HTML output, extensive searching, macro support, backup and restore, distance/direction from other waypoints (including caches, locations, post codes) and much more. You can try it for free!

I noticed that if you don't put in a zip or a gps coord and only set it to alaska it won't send the query. Atleast thats what it did to me.

Be sure to check the box for the day of the week "Days to Generate" you want the query to run. For example, today is Sunday, so if I build a new query (or want to run an old one), I have to check the box for Sunday. You can also check the results of the query by clicking on "Submit Information" at the bottom of the query page and then clicking on "preview the search" at the top of the page. You will be taken to a page listing the caches that will appear in your query. I use this option before clicking on the "Days to Generate" option because you can run a query only once each day. Malcore is correct about needing to select a "From Origin" option which can be your home coordinates, a geocache waypoint, a zip code, or other coordinates. Pocket queries are limited to 500 points and since Alaska has more than 500 caches, the query needs some place to start. Markwell has a great tutorial about how to run pocket queries and test them out so they don't count against your five queries per day quota.

I think if you wrote a query Sunday afternoon/evening and picked Sunday as your only day of the week to run it you won't get it until the following Sunday. It seems they start running overnight in their time zone of course. I know my Monday query emails (generally) come in between 11:30pm Sunday night and 6am on Monday morning, not Tuesday morning. So if you build a query on Sunday evening, pick Monday as your run date and you should have it by the following morning.
If you run "one time only" queries you seem to get that email immediately presumably because the results are available for viewing as soon as your submit it. However the query is not saved for future use.
Also if you just edit an old query instead of making a new one, it seems to be a lower priority in the order they que them up on their server and those emails will be later to arrive.
Not 100% on all this, just what I recall from my learning curve.

Thanks for all the help. It seems like I did everything right and still didn't get my e-mail. I checked the results and got the list pages, which I printed off so at least I would know what size cache I was hunting. I will not modify but recreate the search and see what happens.

Well now they are generating and some are e-mailing but they are coming up with no caches meeting my criteria. I have something wrong but can't locate what. Back to Markwell's tutorial I guess.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I finally got what I was looking for, e-mailed and loaded on my new iPAQ. This hobby is going to cause me to have to get a "real" job.
