Hi everyone We are from the west coast of British Columbia, 30 miles from Vancouver. We are coming to Anchorage in June for some caching and fishing. Looking for recomendations on lodgings. At this point in time we are thinking of a B&B as they seem to be a little easier on the pocket book than hotels. We will be there for a week so I would like to some caching and fishing. All and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Love Bugs aka Ross and Lisa

Anchorage has some great B&B's located all across town. If you want to stay within walking distance of shopping, sightseeing, and caching there are many Downtown B&B's to choose from. Here is a link to one of our local B&B Associations that can help you narrow down location, price & availability. www.anchorage-bnb.com/This forum has great members, welcome, and feel free to use us as a resource for your trip.

Thanks for the replies everyone, looks like we are going to book one of the B&Bs in town. Just trying to narrow it down to which one. So many to chose from. Looking forward to coming up and find some of your caches.

Alright we have our tickets and a B&b in Anchorage. We will be ariving on June 3rd for a week of caching, fishing and sight seeing. We will be renting a car while we are there so any info on day trips would be great. The wife has a bad foot so she can only walk a few miles a day. But she does say that I can go out and play if she has a nice place to sit and read ;D. Looking forward to coming and caching in Alaska and meeting up with some of the members on this board.

I have a cache full of books :-P There are too many day trips to decide but you should go to Seward stopping at Portage Glacier on the way. Go see Matanuska Glacier and Independence Mine on the way (it is a little out of the way to do this so it might be one one day and the other the next day). Let'shear other suggestions.

Mosquitos could/will make sitting in one place for a long time no fun. If it's windy you wont have to deal with them much or if it's hot. Hatchers Pass and Crow Creek would be high on my list.
There is a lot of information and contacts in this forum with phone numbers.
A lot of great geocaches as well. I hope to run into you when you are here - Ole

I will be bringing along two of geocoins to release in the Anchorage area. One being a BGCA coin and the other a rare and hard to get Project APE coin. I might even release my Landsharz coin in Alaska to se if it can make it back home. I will try and post pictures of the coins at a later date. Just have to figure out how to get a good picture of them. 46 days and counting to caching in Alaska. We will try and hit our 500th cache while in Alaska. Hit 400 on hte weekend and we plan on doing alot more by the time we leave.
Any and all suggestions on a memorable cache for #500 would be great. Not to long of a hike since Mrs. Bug has a bad foot and cannot hike a long way. Thanks

It's all in the names: 1. Trove Rover's "Cache With A View" at Glen Alps for an unobstructed view of Anchorage, the Alaska Range (including three, sometimes four volcanos), the Chugach Range, Kenai Mountains, Talkeetna Mountains, and Cook Inlet. 2. NorthWes' "Serenity View" in Kincaid Park for views of the Alaska Range, Kenai Mountains, and Cook Inlet, plus Anchorage's secret beach.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the help everyone gave us in planning our trip. We have been home for a few days now and I am trying to figure out how soon I can return . So many things to do and see, we only hit about 1/10 of what we wanted to do. Trying to cache and see the sights of your great state was a real chore, Mrs. Bug kept looking at the scenery and missing caches that we drove by at 60MPH . Oh well thats OK we still managed a few while we were there. We also had to cross off alot of the caches that we wanted to do because Mrs. Lovebug has a broken bone in her foot that was acting up and causing her alot of pain, so we had to make ferquent stops to get her favorite medicine in Alaska, Alaskan Amber and crab legs ;D. Until we return thanks everyone for the help and the great caches.
