Winter hiking boots, what's the best brand? I need something with a little bite on ice? I don't know about bite on ice but I bought Asolo boots on the advice of my PT and I love them. Great with super feet for shock absorpsion and stability. REI

Winter hiking boots, what's the best brand? I need something with a little bite on ice? I used a pair of Kamicks'. It performed great while caching last winter . Got it with free shipping to my Residence Inn Hotel Anchorage room from ZAPPOS. There are others up there.

Winter hiking boots, what's the best brand? I need something with a little bite on ice? I've got a pair of North Face Baltoro400 (REI). Good to about minus 25F. They are also a good fit on my snowshoes. I used them on the trail to Temptation Peak a couple years back in January when it was minus 20F or less at the trailhead. I've had no problem with them on ice/snow. Estimate is about $115.

That would be a deal I have been looking and those type boots are in the $450 range.
