The description is the generic one and will be the same on everyone's coin...correct? I got lost on naming the coin. Is it just powmia's mosquito racer #1, #2, etc? Or, can all the names be different. You will have to forgive me, I spent 40 years with the Dept of Defense and it was not explicit enuf for me as to what I must name my coins. (Gheesh 90 more days to go). Yes, participants can cut and paste the description and then embellish it if they like. Based on Olerun's post, just make sure that "Alaska Mosquito Racer" is somewhere in the coin's name. That means the following (and other variations) will work to pull up all the racers when a TB query is run on the gc.com website: Powmia's Alaska Mosquito Racer #1 Alaska Mosquito Racer: Oleruns OMGCrew's Winning Alaska Mosquito Racer Etc.

I couldn't resist. I have been trying to stay out of the geocoin business. Oh well, less money for the Red Cross.

That's okay, I'll put yours in Ridge Seekers Holy Grail, Yankee or Rebel cache. They are good for a visit every couple years. Oh wait, there is that one in Prince William Sound. I may have to put up with a fishing trip to bag that one. ;D but I am working on it

"Alaska Mosquito Racer" as part of the coin's name, it will help the searching for the coins.
Thanks a million!!!!

For a race that starts tomorrow, there aren't very many entrants based on a search of "Alaska Mosquito" in gc.com. "Tomorrow, Tomorrow!...There is no tomorrow" One of the "Rocky" films. I just had to type it. It is like everything else. I start slow then gain interest and speed. Remember, there is a big difference between "Hah...still got it" and "Still use it".

Michilata is up and ready to roll too. Ole's post poses a question I don't think has been addressed. Can we use the TB Hotels and Portals (or whatever they are called)? Just want to make sure I am playing by the rules.

I can confirm that your and Shadius' coins went into the mail this morning, so you won't be too far behind the other folks. I still need to activate mine. So far, I see activated racers for Scobey, Malcore, Oleruns, and AKDogMom on gc.com. I might be going to London at the end of March. I'll move the highest bidder's coin across the pond if I go .

Take your pick for the first BIG hop: StarGate P5213 TB Cache (Berlin, Germany) StarGate P31115 TB Cache (West Australia) StarGate P40175 TB Cache (Taupo New Zealand) StarGate P51004 TB Cache (Netherlands) StarGate P53006 TB Cache (Ireland) StarGate P46006 TB Cache (Switzerland) StarGate P60010 TB Cache (Norway) StarGate P51000 TB Cache (United Kingdom) StarGate P43010 TB Cache (Italy) StarGate P2628 TB Cache (South Africa)

I don't see why not. It will give the coin one big jump to start but others can do the same so... I say go for it.
We can change rules for next year after we know what works or not - O

My TB that went to France moves 5 times as often as any of the ones here in the US. Maybe the Stargate is the way to go.

Yeah, I have a pair of moose TBs in Scandinavia and one of my daughter's TBs is in the UK (even though the mission was to return to Alaska) and they all move more than my domestic bugs. It's a good thing NorthWes is an upstanding individual who would NEVER consider holding up bugs in his Stargate cache for his own bug's personal gain . What a tangled web this can become!

Hey beware - there is an Alaska Mosquito Trap recently spotted in Montana. That would be funny if one of our mosquitos ended up in the same place. There should be bonus points for that, right?

I won't use the Stargate even if people do. I don't think it is right. We should all start on an equal footing and use of the Stargate isn't that.

We did say in the original rules that they couldn't be "mailed" they had to be placed and moved. Okay, I see his point.

Okay, "no mailing"... so Stargates or other portals are out. So with that, the game is going and good luck to all...

Man, you guys play tough down there. OMGCrew FTFs Scobey's new cache and doesn't touch Scobey's new Alaska Mosquito Racer that's in the cache! That might be worse than putting it in the Abominable Snowbox cache...at least it would have picked up some mileage. Looks like there are eight entrants in the race... Alaska Mosquito Racer: Elijah Ben Sapir 2007 Alaska Mosquito Racer, MAGGIE Alaska Mosquito Racer: Michilata Alaska Mosquito Racer: Beamer Alaska Mosquito Racer: Mort Alaska Mosquito Racer: Representing Retirees LB Kids' Alaska Mosquito Racer: Corky Marvin The Alaska Mosquito Racer May the best coin win!!! By the way, Oleruns, what spoils of victory are we racing for?

OK I have established my first entry. I believe there be lots 'o luck with this coin. When I went to Oak Coins to determine the activation code, I was given the letters GEOSWAG. Maybe this is common for other coins too, I don't know.

It was either move to an older cache or move it to a soon to come one out in the middle of no where.

I am going to kick in at least a new 2007 AK X-Mas geocoin if there is one and an ammo-can that I will put other items in during the year but I wont tell what they are.

I'm not sure why powmia thinks the idea of a "charity" prize is a bad idea; though $25 is a little on the steep side for this gladiator.
But I also like the idea of participants offering up the prizes. And for those who are just racing for the fun and prestige, they could request that the prize go to the next Mosquito on the list.
So unless there is a good reason not to do so...
Well, before I throw my idea out there, I will wait for council from powmia.
Thanks, Ole, for a fun new way to enjoy our geocaching.
