I guess that is one way to market an item on Ebay. ;D and hit 200 members on the forum too.

I guess it didn't really mean that much after all.

Hello all,
As much as I regret to say this I was hoodwinked by Geolobo to give him free a gold OIFGA for his service in the military. I was appauled to later find out his intentions was to sell the coin. He promised not to ever sell the gold OIFGA. I suggest to never trade with him or give him anything unless you don't mind him selling your geocoin on ebay.

That sucks! To sell coins that were given to you after you beg for them is pretty darn low but it happens. Some people will ruin their character for less than $20.00, crazy world.
The flip side is that there are still good people like Cavscout who will lend a hand to help out people and that is what makes the world go round. Keep your chin up!

Oh, $89.05 is how much the coin sold for.... I wonder if he was able to get those other coins for free too? He said he is selling 1000 coins.
I see he sold an 2005 Alaska coin as well for $22.50

Yep Geolobo has fooled a few geocachers into giving him their coins. He is using the "financial" excuse to sell off his collection. If you notice he is not married or has children, so the only excuse I can think of is he can't manage his money due to buying to many coins. He also is continuing to buy items on ebay as well as geocoins.

Some thoughts come to mind after following this incident... I'm a usual adherent in social forums to the 'Thumper' rule (you know, from the movie 'Bambi', when Thumper's mom reminds him of that golden rule in public conversation - 'If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all') - seems quaint and silly sometimes, but it makes for nicer conversation all around. I'm not violating that here, or pointing fingers. There's a different way to think about this situation...
I'm reminded of what M10Bike says about his coins - despite his injunctions about what he wants done with his coins (which he retains technical ownership of while allowing others - like me - to keep physical possession of), they end up being misused, sold, etc. - and he tries not to let the misuse taint the rest of his or others' geocaching experiences. Despite his investment in the coins he realizes he can't make people do what should be the 'right thing' with them. And, he doesn't spend time publicly bemoaning their misuse (although I understand he correctly contacts the individual directly with his beef).
Likewise, when we release geocoins into the 'wild' they sometimes go missing - check out powmia's right-on comments about that experience on this forum - and we have to realize that bad things will happen to the geocoins of good people. Shoot, sometimes folks with the best of intentions make inadvertent mistakes handling 'travelers' which belong to others... myself included...
But this particular conversation involves a coin that was given away. Despite how the recipient (mis)advertised their condition, that coin was 'gifted' to the other cacher. When I give something away I have a lot less heartburn over future uses of the gift if I remember its not mine anymore... even when it's misused.
While that comment isn't meant to in any way make 'righteous' what this individual did, the better conversation might be to focus on the positive things that have happened with the OIFGA Gold geocoins (I mean , something positive's happened, hasn't it? I haven't heard about that, but I expect it did... why, I'd guess that many reading this thread are probably totally clueless about the OIFGA stuff) Let the stinky sleeping dogs alone once they've been exposed for what they are.
So - now that we know about the dogs, tell us about the OIFGA series and its positive merits, eh?
