This is the first this forum has heard of this event, but since it will publish in a few hours, I figured to give the late night crowd a preview. Mark your calendars, Sept 29, 2007, Abbott Loop Community Park (unless the baseball kids want to use the area then,(they have first right to all of the park since they contibuted over $10mil for the development.)
From 2:00pm until 6:00pm there will be a GeoCache Alaska send off to summertime. Following the event there might even be a send off to that sinister Dr Bleh.
If you are intersted in helping out let me know (frostgiant.geo@gmail.com).
I will adjust the event page as needed, so check back often and soon.
I hope to see you all in Sept.

I will alert Commanda and the Captain to the possible Bleh send-off. I don't know if I will be able to make it. It appears that my sojourn to this great country is nearing a close.
Dr. Bleh may have stirred up some trouble in the lower 48.

Dr. Bleh may have stirred up some trouble in the lower 48. I will be departing in August to the continuous 48 to travel around for a couple years. I will find this Dr. He can run but he cannot hide/rope a dope/down for the count/and all that rot.

It’s right around the corner now, Indian Summer. With the way the sun has been hanging in the sky and the temperatures have been in the 60’s I think it is true, we might get to truly enjoy an Indian Summer, that doesn’t happen to often up here.
I have the Abbott Loop Community Park secured for September 29, both the new pavilion and the soccer field in front of it. There is plenty of parking and several caches in the area to hunt. I am looking for volunteers willing to help out with some of the activities and the grill. I have secured a very large grill courtesy of our friends at Enstar, Fumduker and OMGCrew. I am looking for some folks who would be willing to help out with the following: • Aid is setting up the geocache poker run • Help with the grill, is anyone a good cook? We could do this in shifts; I am working on getting hamburgers and hot dogs as well other fine BBQ food for the event. If anyone has connections at Sam’s Club, Costco or Food Service of America perhaps we could get them to donate some meat to our cause. I know I have had luck with each of them for other events in the past. • Ammo cans, decon containers, altoids tins, ABS, PVC, a new type of container and folks willing to help with a how-to make a cache session. I am going to bring tarps, paint, glue, bark, JB weld, stencils, magnets, and various other needed items for camo on a cache. I am looking for help in teaching/showing others how to make some clever hides. Also if you have extra ammo cans and or other containers you would like to donate to the cause that would be great. After the event the possible new hides could be quite numerous depending on how many new caches are made in this group “cache seeding” seminar. • I need awnings! I have a few myself and I really hope they are not needed (NO RAIN! someone stop Dr. Bleh) but I would rather be on the safe side and be prepared. • There will be a few other games and we could use a hand or two in setting those up and running them throughout the day. • For the night cache (which is technically not part of the event as it won’t be dark enough to do it until after the event is over) we will need to not be parked inside the parking area at Abbott Loop Community Park as there is a gate on the park and it closes at 10:00pm (unless someone could pull some strings and get a key to lockup after we leave after hours).
These are a few of the things to get started for the event. It should be lots of fun and I am working on getting some good prizes for the games. If anyone has ideas or contacts for some cool shwag for prizes let me know and we can work on acquiring it. Please add your comments and concerns and volunteer names to the list. Thank you for helping out and I look forward to seeing everyone at the event.

Thank you FrostG1anT for all the time, thought and effort that you're putting into planning this event. It is very much appreciated! If you're really looking for someone who is a good cook, I'm afraid I'm not your woman; but if you just need people to take turns flipping burgers and hot dogs, I'll be happy to put my time in.
Just my own thoughts (and I've only been to one get-together before this) but what I'm looking forward to most is meeting up with and chatting with fellow geocachers, whom I've met "on the trail" and whom I haven't met yet. I think it should be kept simple, maybe a few games, but mostly relaxing, eating and chatting. I'll help with games or wherever needed if I'm not "cooking," and I think I'm safe in volunteering Flyrfn also. ;D
What type of swag items are you looking for? What price range?
We don't have an awning (we did have a nice four-legged one, but the Whittier wind took care of that, and it should be in a Whittier tree somewhere, sheltering the squirrels from the elements). Would tarps help?
Thanks again!!

Thank you akgeowidow and FLYRFN for volunteering to help with cooking and games. Thank you Eagle618 for helping with schwag and prizes. Thank you AntoniaDodge and OMGCrew for helping with games and food/grill preparations. Anyone else who is willing to help out will be very much appreciated. I am still looking for awnings if people are willing to bring them out and make them available for the event, I am hoping for good weather but it is always best to prepare for the worst case scenario. Thank you to those who are helping out.

I originally posted I'd be there but I won't I am going to Ketchikan to see my new grandson which, I know it is hard to believe, is a higher priority than caching. At least until he poops or cries then I'm out the door ;D That's what grandmas are for.

This belongs to different threads, but is timely for the Indian Summer event. The graphics for T-shirts are finished and the shirts will be ordered tomorrow afternoon. Shirts will cost $15. They will be available in black with white graphics or black with pink graphics. They will be available in L, XL, XXL with a very limited quantity of M. If you want to guarantee you get one place your order now. 1/10th of the order has already been reserved. You can email me with your orders at frostgiant.geo@gmail.com The following are the graphics on the shirts. The silhouette is on the front left and the flag is on the back of the shirt. I plan to place the order before 5:00 tomorrow. Please let me know how many, what colors and sizes you would like, thanks.

The shirts are short sleeved. I may be able to get a long sleeve shirt but the price would be different. Contact me offline if you are looking for a long sleeve shirt. They do not carry long sleeve shirts so it would have to be purchased from somewhere else and screened with the order.

I share your pain, Toni.
I'll be leaving Delaware Bay about the time festivities kick off, on my way to invade Bermuda.
On the other hand, there's caches on Bermuda. Mrs NW has hinted that if I'm a good boy (a very good boy) on the cruise she'll accompany me to hunt for a few caches...
Sure hope the boat has food good enough to make up for what I'm gonna miss at the BBQ...

The shirts are in! If you would like to reserve one please let me know. They are going quickly and it isn't even Saturday yet. They are $15, they are short sleeved, all are black shirts, some with white graphics and some with neon coral graphics. I will post pics as the graphics changed a bit from the originally posted pictures. I will be posting some additional information here in these forums regarding Saturday's event. I hope to see you all there.

Thank you to everyone who is and has helped out with the event. Those of you who are helping setup tomorrow please be there around 1:00. I will be there sometime between 11:00 and noon. You are welcome to arrive earlier, but we should be able to get everything set up from 1:00 on. Don't forget to bring a dish to share. Those who are helping to cook, I have a schedule. 2:00-3:00 akgeowidow & FLYRFN 3:00-3:30 deafhunt 3:30-4:00 hixfromthestix 4:00-5:00 OMGCrew & lemurlad 5:00-5:30 FrostG1anT 5:30-6:00 Dr Bleh (Does anyone want to take his turn? He only can cook two ways, bloody as hell or burnt to a crisp)
Those helping with activities: akDogteam, OMGCrew, lemurlad, snidly53, eagle618, LadyBug Kids, akgeowidow , FLYRFN, hixfromthestix, AntoniaDodge, and Geo-Leprechaun. This is not a finished list. If you would like to help out just show up and let me know. I will be in and out all night, mostly out, so call my cell phone if you need me. Thanks to everyone, I will see you all tomorrow.

Blah, Blah, Bleh! is completely doable if people are interested in doing it after the event tomorrow. I will say it would be best if you had rubber boots or good water proof hiking boots as there is a bit of possible wading involved, but the course was ran tonight and it is set for cache seekers who are worthy of the challenge. See you all tomorrow. Cache On.
Have fun Northwes, scobey, and oleruns on your vacations, I look forward to seeing you all at Nachtbrut.

Thank you all for coming and I look forward to seeing you all out on the trails. I hope you enjoyed yourselves. Cache On!
