I got my 50th this month - see hardwire.bogomip.com/2007/06/50th-cache-woot.htmlLets do a potluck - Gladys Wood area sounds awesome, however there are a ton of places I've found while caching that would be totally appropriate for a potluck as well, none come to mind since I'm pooped from Baldy Eagle and a few miles of walking near Girdwood. Maybe I will make some suggestions later on Lets.. POTLUCK!

Ok then, June 18th after work I'll see everybody at the top of Mt. Baldy.. there wasn't a bloodsucker in sight for miles! I have got to try this crazy trick: www.diyhappy.com/quick-and-dirty-mosquito-trap/Well I'm all pumped up to make some chili... We could all conglomerate around Spud Cache so all you who have found it can laugh at us non-finders. The 8 or 9 times I have been there so far didn't have many mosquitoes, the Eagle River Lyons Club park has a little picnic area and is right next to the larger sports fields just in case somebody wants to play some games. As for sites in Anchorage there is always indoors at Kincaid Park for "just to be safe" potlucks, there is also the public recreation center near Minissota and International Road in the Spenard area - I have been to a few Big Brothers Big Sisters events there. There is a huge gazebo just south of the baseball field next to the recreation center with a gigantic charcoal grill - you could probably throw half a cow on it - and lots of sitting room and a little kiddie sand area with a fun boat they can crawl around in. Thats about all I can think of at the moment. I'm personally voting in this order: - Kincaid Center if its free or cheap
- Spenard Recreation Center
- Eagle River Lyons Club
- Mt. Baldy if airlift is provided
- Spud Cache area at Eagle River Campgrounds

Do you think my 50th hide should be to have a potluck at some geo-coords in the woods/lake in Anchorage on a weeknight? ideas There was an event held in the summer and winter called "HAMMER"...High Adventure Meets Mental Endurance Race...that I used to be interested in when I was a bit younger (10 yrs or so back). It included mtn. biking, hiking, rafting in the summer and skiing, climbing, and something else in the winter. It was a "bear". You were totally wasted. Let's find out when the next summer one is held....................................and we will all gather at the finish line and cheer.

Even though I may not be here - the APU field is a good place but not mosquito-free.

I'm still really into this idea since a buddy is about to hit 50 this month as well. Lets have some fun after hours this next week. I'll bring chili! Extracted from the geocaching site: Guidelines for Cache Listings Cache Listing Requirements/Guidelines Event Caches Event caches are gatherings that are open to all geocachers and which are organized by geocachers. While a music concert, a garage sale, an organized sporting event, a ham radio field day or a town’s fireworks display might be of interest to a large percentage of geocachers, such events are not suitable for submission as event caches because the organizers and the primary attendees are not geocachers. In addition, an event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together cachers for an organized hunt of another cache or caches. Such group hunts are best organized using the forums or an email distribution list. Event caches should be submitted no less than two weeks prior to the date of the event, so that potential attendees will have sufficient notice to make their plans. Events are generally published no more than three months prior to the date of the event, to avoid having the listing appear for a prolonged period of time on the nearest caches page and in the weekly e-mail notification of new caches. Exceptions are sometimes made for events that are designed to attract a regional, national or international group of geocachers, or if an overnight stay is expected as part of the event, requiring advance reservations and travel planning (for example, a campout). Contact your reviewer if you wish to set up such an event, which may be published up to six months prior to the event date. After the event has passed, the event cache should be archived by the organizer within four weeks.
