Anyone interested in hosting 2007 CITO Events?
I've got a connection with the Muni Parks Volunteer Coordinator. Parks likes to have Anchorage's Kincaid Park Chalet area picked up in the springtime, and have already asked me if we're going to be out there again this year. They'll provide bags and shovels and wheelbarrows - we need muscle. I'll be setting that CITO event up for the worldwide CITO day of April 14th and launching it thru the GCAK site. I'd like to suggest our folks in other regions/cities set up an event on the 14th of April too (perhaps the snow will be gone by then... perhaps...). Let me know if you'd like to help here - we've just about filled three dumpsters in the past two years out there.
No reason events can't be held anytime either! Cool icon for the sponsor, and we've got some tips for how-to. Interested?

For the Fairbanks area, I think brad-and-heather are targeting June 2 according to this post. April 14 is definitely too early for Fairbanks as my skijoring and mushing training logs show I've been running dogs into the second week of April in six out of the last eight years. I believe it's been twice in the last five years that the borough designated trash pick up day scheduled for the second week of May has been snowed out. Brad/Heather...please chime in!!!

Wes, let me know what I can do. Time is more limited with my new job, but I can work that out. Kelly

Email me as last year. I'll still be around. I will assist also. I hope we will be wearing those soon (and not because of the bright snow).

How could they choose April 14 without consulting me first? I wanted to host a CITO event for the 22nd - Earth Day, right?
The 14th I will be at the happiest place on earth celebrating my stepping into middle age with my friends and family.
Good thing we can organize them anytime.
I was hoping to piggyback with a group called litterfree, but I always like hints on how to do things the easy way.

Depending on the trail conditions I would suggest that we ask if we can drive a pickup/ 4-wheeler down on to the field to help load trash. I am sure we will not have as many tires and the like to move.

Now that we have the topic started, please discuss the details of specific CITO Events in the appropriate Regional Board.

Reminder to all geocachers: CITO is to be a cache by cache habit - the CITO events are to build community goodwill towards caching by drawing land manager/community attention to that ongoing habit with one massive anti-trash moment! As the OP (original poster) I'll summarize what's known and then suggest the regional coordinators take it from there... BUT PLEASE POST A NOTE HERE WHEN AN EVENT FOR YOUR REGION IS FINALIZED!
Starting south & heading north:
Juneau: Shadius (limping into the Middle Ages after his return from the Happiest Place on Earth!) will build on his community's strong ties to 'Earth Day' and work on an April 22nd target date;
Valdez: No plans known yet;
Anchorage: NorthWes (with already-committed help from powmia & AKDogMom) has made arrangements with MOA Parks & Rec to, once again, run a CITO event at Kincaid Park on April 14th - event yet to be submitted to geoching.com. This will be a 12:30pm start, following an MOA Parks & Rec / GeocacheAlaska.org "Intro to Geocaching" event at 10am April 14th. (See other Topic on this training event...);
Fairbanks: Early June has been mentioned as a potential time for an event here... Interior cachers desire to have all snow gone & the ground firm before hosting an event... see regional thread for details.
Special Note: See the excellent CITO threads in the geocaching.com forums for ideas/tips/planning helps! It's one of the easiest events to host - get a local parks dept to provide trash bags & trash pickup (they're thrilled to have volunteers!), and you're past the biggest hurdle...

I wonder are they will giveaway geoccin ? I know they did last year. Maybe you can offer to help with the event and figure out a way for coins to be given to the team that collects the most trash, the most interesting item, or something else. Geocoins cost money and someone has to pay for them.
