I have two caches that I'm wondering what to do with the entries that folks say they have found or signed. My Oodles of Cache (AKA give it a good shake) (upon doing maintenance) I have found that someone back in Feb or so placed a piece of paper into the cache and signed it. The log as folks MAY know is contained IN an oodle...one of hundreds..now down to dozens. In addition someone has placed a piece of birch and written their name son it too. I removed both and changed the hint to say that the log is in the oodle. My question: I don't want to delete logs...I get upset if folks delete mine...after all they did FIND the cache, should I just let it go?
In addition my "THE REAL FLATTOP" cache hasn't been found..evidently in a month...and someone replaced it with a "baggy" and placed it under some rocks. I believe I should inform those two cachers and ask them to delete/change their find to a DNF or a note. This obviously was not a find. In addition, I'll be going up to Flattop and removing the baggy and contents.
Comments please, don't want to irritate folks.

Re the oodles cache... You can't do anything about that one. They found the container and left a signed "log". Deleting their logs might violate GS's latest revision of the "rules". Removing the "false" logs and claryifying the location of the log on the cache listing is the best action. I wouldn't even bother to contact either of those people about that one. Not even worth mentioning.
As for the other one... not finding the cache and placing a baggie with a signed note in it somewhere in the GZ area is NOT a substitute for finding the cache. Those logs I would delete with an emailed explanation that you removed their log because they didn't find the container and sign the "real" logbook. Be polite and make it a short & straight forward notification.

A "found it" of a physical cache includes signing the log book/sheet. Per this Groundspeak Knowledge Book article, you may delete a cachers' "found it" log if they failed to meet your logging requirements. There are several caches out there where finding the correct log sheet is part of the challenge. I own a puzzle cache like that and two previous finders returned to the cache and located the real log sheet after I good-naturedly pointed out their error. As for your Flattop cache, it appears the logsheet was found without the container. They could have signed the logsheet and logged both a "found it" and a "needs maintenance" to bring the problem to your attention. I'd be fine with a signature on the logsheet since that is the basis for logging a "found it" on any physical cache. This particular cache has had a problem with people "helping" you with it. More than once, I have scattered the rock piles that prior finders have piled around and on top of it, thus making it stand out like a sore thumb.
