Join GeocacheAlaska!on May 8th for its inaugural Adopt-A-Highway CITO event. Join GeocacheAlaska! On May 8th, 2010 at 12 NOON to celebrate the adoption of a beautiful, two-mile stretch of the Seward Highway from the Alyeska Highway intersection to two miles north of Girdwood. We will be meeting promptly at 12 noon at the event coordinates. SaidbyStacy is bringing doughnuts! All volunteers will need to participate in a very brief (10 min. approx.) safety orientation as required by the State of Alaska. Please be sure to dress appropriately. The State of Alaska suggests wearing long-sleeved shirts, sturdy, long pants and hard-soled shoes or boots. Sorry, but pets and children under 11 years of age are not permitted to attend this event per the conditions set by the State of Alaska. If you have a safety vest,please feel free to bring it along. If you do not have a safety vest, one will be provided for you. Other items you may want to bring along are a pair of work gloves and a respirator mask. We will be bringing nitrile gloves and some extra respirator masks should they be needed. Also, please try to carpool if you are able to in order to minimize our impact on parking. Adopt-A-Highway CITO Event WHERE: See event coordinates WHEN: Saturday, May 8th, 2010, 12 NOON Please plan on an approximately 45 minute drive from Anchorage to Girdwood. Thanks for the hard work getting us a section of the road, do we have to clean, twice a year or once a year to keep this section of the highway?
I used to belong to a M/C club and we had a section but the same 5 people makes it hard to keep up the motivation of picking up others peoples lost treasures! But we did find money every time we cleaned the road. "bills" and not coins I am talking about, so it seemed to always pay for someones lunch! I posted that I will be there!
