You may read a short online news article HERE. I haven't been able to find out the man's geonick; he is 56 yr old Stuart Anderson of Spokane County WA. I'm sure more info will be available on the Pacific NW regional area of the geocaching.com forums. Two comments: Please remember family and friends of the stricken person often read comments made about their loved one in online forums such as this and don't need to hear uninformed speculation that casts the individual in a bad light; and... as I realized personally this past Saturday while benchmark hunting along the Parks Hwy... we're often one mis-step away from disaster. It pays to think 'safety first' as we rush about searching here and there... maintain situational awareness & know where the hazards are around you. I'd hate to see any of my geofriends in Alaska in an article like this!

Northwes, thanks for the post, very sad story. Guess we all should take a more careful approach as we place and search for caches and BMs
