Um, well, last August the Mrs. and I found out that we was going to be a grandparents.
Then the economy crashed and our investments with it.
Then our future daughter-in-law had to move in for health reasons.
Then there was a wedding. Then a healthy baby. And now I have 6 people to house and feed on a retirement pension.
I think the phrase is "busier than a one-legged man at a butt-kicking contest."
I have not done any geocaching for over a year now, no new caches, no maintenance, etc, and for that I am sorry. I am taking down caches as they are reported missing or in need of dire repair. I will not post new ones until my life becomes a little less complex. It's a pity, because I really liked coming up with clever hides and finds.
Most of all, I regret not getting anything ready for the Alaska State Fair this year. There have been a few inquiries, so I felt I had to make time to come here and post. I had a really good idea for a geocaching scavenger/treasure hunt with prizes at the end based on discovered raffle tickets. I was going to call it The DaGrumby Code. I hope to make it next year. So for all those I have disappointed, well, sorry, but life has intruded in a very dramatic way.
Next summer, I hope to rejoin the community of geocachers. Until then, have fun.
Take care, and thanks for the laughs and comments.
Nate Grumby and The Mrs.

Mr. NateGrumby: Sorry to hear life is getting in the way with GeoCaching - but I do understand. It does sound like you have your priorities in order though. I very recently completed "Don't get your knickers in a twist" and "Spawn of the dead" in the Butte area. Both caches only need a little simple maintenance. Please don't take them down - all they need is some fresh paper. Maybe some write in the rain would keep future maintenance at bay? I'd be happy to put some in the mail to you if you'd like - just let me know. Best wishes in everything else life has blessed you with. ~ dennifer

Mr Nate Grumby I hope your life gets easier soon. Thank you for your previous efforts at the fair. Last year was a blast. And I will admit you will be greatly missed. (My hubby hasn't been excited about going to the fair in years, and last year he went 2 days in a row just to finish finding them all.) We look forward to seeing you back next year. Summ01

Kudos to Nate Grumby and the fabulous efforts he has put into turning the State Fair into something to look forward to and actually have a total blast attending. Sorry to hear life got in front of you this year, but I can relate. I hope everything mellows out for you soon and you can get back to an even kneel. I want to say that you made the State Fair something very special and it will be missed this year, but the legend lives on. If you need help with your caches let me know, it is a bit of a distance for me, but I have totally enjoyed those of yours that I have had the honor of finding. Keep on keeping on, and I will look for you at the Fair in the turkey booth if you are going to be there again this year. Keep the faith, and cache on.

Thanks for the hides and I had one great 900 at your one a couple years ago. I hope you're able to find some Gumby time for yourself in the future. Thanks again - Oleruns

Sorry to here, I have not been doing much caching for the last year due to medical reasons and have let some of my caches close due to not feeling up to maintaining them. I will be out at the fair again as a medic (23rd year in a row) on the weekends and will try to look you up, but not for professional reasons. I missed tracking you down last year as calls kept me away from looking for you all that much. I have got some of the other medics interested in caching but looking for your caches while out patrolling the fair grounds. I hope things in prove and we see you out caching again.

we hope that your life slows down, just a bit! We have been in a similar boat, but our life is changing again this year and we hope slowing down a bit. We surely have slowed down and can't quite keep up any longer. We really enjoyed your Alaska State Fair caches last year (our first time Geocaching at the Fair). We spent three days, but didn't quite complete it. Got lost in the woods on one of them [ ]. We look forward to participating in your next adventure. Best Wishes, Congratulations on the grand-baby. Keep safe and well and in good health - and enjoy life! Especially that Grand-baby!

NG, Got on to see if the State Fair caches were going to be out there this year, last year I worked on the caches and the Mrs went 2 days we found most of them and had fun. sorry to hear about the home issues. Look forward to seeing you getting back into this soon. congrats on the grandkids they are lots of fun! Concur with dennifer about the caches. Lots of us out there can replace the logs and I do it when I remember to bring them along. Love your hides we found so far and I am sure I have more out in the "valley" to find. Have a great state fair! I am still going as someone gave me 2 tickets to it this year! May have to stop and get a turkey leg!

I sent Nate an email asking if he'd like to get that cache going for Alaska State Fair 2010.
