I agree, they should be like supersize, real close for the tour. I was thinking of doing all the planets with micros like supersize just for the fun of the "planet walk". Most of those could be used on both boomarks or a combo series. The only reason I did not do it was that it is almost placing a cache for the sake of placing a cache and may take away the fun, what do you think? Took me a minute to remember 'Supersize' - I was thinking 'cool - ammocans dangling from the planets!' - har har - actually I think it would be pretty neat to have those pieces of public art/information 'tagged' with caches as they're right on the trail in most cases.

I played around with SnowRanger's Alyeska Resort version of the gps map system for skiers - not sure how to do that for the Tour of Anchorage (where you can show elevation over particular parts of the course, etc). I wonder if Nordic Ski Club has that elevation map of theirs in a digital form we could convert for use? (Probably only works in Garmins... ) Seriously - the concept for combining a world-class trail with a cache series is too much to pass up! The ACVB would love that!

You guys must be amazingly adept with computers. I am still working on finding a winter route from the end of Campbell Airstrip Rd (Basher Drive) across to Temptation Peak using map/compass/plain old eyesight.

The Central Landmarking Program is doing something with ACVB, if you want more info you could contact WarrenPeace - he is running it and would know about it.

This looks like a great idea and I will defenently help place caches along the route. one question though. Is there a way to tell exactly which trail is the right one. The maps shown are to large of a view to get a clear view. There a lot of trails in some areas and many are so close togather that you can't tell if your on the right one. Are there markers on the trails or somthing?

One thing that would be great is to have someone do the whole route with a gps that can do tracks and save that track and have it avalable for others to download it to there gps. that way you could know if your putting a cache on the correct trails.

I have detailed orienteering maps that could be useful for this. Maybe I could mark them on those, take pictures and put a map on the site.

A trail track that we can put up on the GCAK website for download is a very valuable commodity. I'd be willing to work with folks on it - integrating segments into a seamless track. Knappling - here's where your ski practice time can be made to work twice! Let's talk...

I could ski sections of the trail and track them on my GPS - if I knew how. I have a Garmin GPSmap 76 - anyone willing to tell me how?

I think everyone can guess where my last planet cache will be ;D Last? There are still Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Neptune to be covered. Scobey got Jupiter, I got Saturn, and Fishiam scored the Sun. We can't quit now! There's still more of the solar system to explore!

We can't quit now! There's still more of the solar system to explore! I looked through all the really cool pictures of Saturn in this month's National Geographic magazine and didn't see the cache... Can't wait to get back on the caching trail myself... now that the grandson's been delivered I'm hoping to get off the short leash and get back outdoors with Aero for some exercise with the GPSr... Got some waypoints entered Saturday for parts of the Tour of Anchorage Trail up near Service HS. Be sure to check out comments about Tour Trail vandalism problems in the Trail Watch thread.

Thanks to oleruns for and iclight38 for placing caches along the tour trail. I will try to make my contribution in the next few weeks. Maybe this weekend I can find Pluto.
