I see there are a few cachers who have logged their own caches, does that count?
I think they should count for me because my memory is so bad I can hide my own Easter eggs.
I know Scobey is going to look to see if I am logging my own hides ;D

We sometimes have trouble finding our own caches, but that's usually because they weren't replaced where we hid them. We log the cache visit with a "Note" or "Maintenance" log, rather than a "Found It" log. We also don't log caches where we were present when they were hidden, since we actually didn't have to go look for them. The notable exception to this is "CITO-n-Go #6."

Rule of thumb: If you already know where it is, you can't "find" it.

Rule of thumb: If you already know where it is, you can't "find" it. If you already know where it is, then you can't find it, then it should count as a DNF and such a logged item as DNF would be acceptable. However, once you have logged a DNF, then, you have shown that you DO NOT know where it is, and it then becomes eligible for a "found" and could be logged as a find even though it is your own cache. (My old engineering profs would be proud!!!!!)

Can you log the cache as a found, If you found it but it wasn't being maintained, so you adopted it?

It may be better just to maintain the cache, find it and then adopt it at a later time after working with owner or geo-admin. I have done that a couple of times after I am sure it is geo-litter or gone. Again, no clear rules here ;D The key here is to be sure it is gone not hard to find and put down a container.

I know just what you mean LBK. LOL!! .....which is why I gave my Magellan to Scobey. He seems so far out there at times. I always like to provide adequate assistance.
