Is anyone game for going after Anchorage's Rooftop on June 23? I know it is after solstice, but I want to try and grab a sort of power path on the hillside and with my work schedule it will take more time than after the 'normal' working schedule and when I go to bed. (I work a very early shift). I am planning on taking the entire day of June 23 and hitting quite a few of the Anchorage ridge caches. Interested?

Ooooo...so tempting. Yankee and Rebel caches are also suitable candidates for such a day.
You thinking about starting at Glen Alps, doing a minor detour to Rusty, then up the valley to Williwaw, and wrapping up by coming up and over Ballfield to pick up the two caches up there? Energy and time permitting, Cloudcatcher would also be up for grabs and then someone could go down the backside of Little O'Malley and sweep up the caches along the Powerline Pass trail on the way back to Glen Alps. Then there's O'Malley Summit to throw into the mix, too. Long day, but definite doable.
I'll have to play it "definitely maybe" right now because we're working on getting our Fairbanks home on the market and I have a long punch list to pack into the weekends.

If you are going onto the ridges, you are going to need more than just the normal caching bag of goodies, so you are going to have more weight to haul. Unless, you are just going to throw caution to the wind. Then, you might end up being hauled home. I still have all my gear, but as with most climbers of the older stature, I have resigned myself to pulling pitch and retiring from the activity. Fatigue can be a major set back. No one has ever been injured as a result of a climbing incident. Most of the injuries are sustained from a falling accident. Good luck.

I have some of the lower caches or will have prior to my trek up the hill. I have been looking at Williwaw for so many years and not made it up there for one reason or another. Now I have a quest... it should be a good one. You can email (frostgiant.geo@gmail.com) me too if you are interested in going up for the Rooftop or any of the other destination ridges around the area. I am always up for a good hike.

Is there anyone interested in doing the Chugach powerpath on Saturday? This is good weather willing. It will be a very long day of some of Anchorages best sights from several different peaks and an awful lot of fun. Let me know if you are interested in going up. This will be an all day affair and if you don't have any hills in this summer, this might not be the best first trek of the season. I may be a medic, (albeit a very rusty one at this point) but that doesn't mean I want to work out on the trails. I hope you can join us. Email me if you are interested in going. We are planning on leaving early and caching all day. A big group would be fun.
Oleruns and I had a great time on Near Point last night. If the weather holds out Anchorages Rooftop will be the best hike of the year.

Well, we didn't make it to Williwa on this trip, but we had a great time at O'Malley Summit. Thanks Ole for a great day in the clouds. When the wind starts at the summit, it is the whisper of Dr Bleh saying... "get off the mountain...now, it belongs to me".

Thanks FrostG1ant I had a great time! I just keep thinking... "MTBoy needs something to do after work" I would like to grab at least Birdridge for 800 if not Yankee and Rebel. Anyone game? BirdRidge can be done on a week night and that is a plus.
