What does everybody use for batteries? I started with alkaline then tried the rechargeable ones. But found they die way too fast. So I went back to alkaline. I just tried some of the lithium e2 ones and really like them other than the price tag. The first pair have already lasted two weeks and the charge indicator on the GPSr is still full. And they are really light.

I have been using lithium batteries for a long time. I first started about 12 years ago by using them in my headlamp. They last in the cold and lasted for many trips. I now use them in the gpsrs, and hand held radios. I usually put a package of 4 in the wagon when I shop for monthly groceries, so I don't run out. I also do not miss the funds that way. I also carry 2-4 in an inner pocket near the body to keep warm in case the gpsr or something else runs down. Using lithium, I really forget when I put new ones in the devices. Maybe 2-3 months usage for me in the gpsr.

Actualy the lithium E2 batteries can be found at most places that sell batterys. Usaully there in the photo department. There made by Energizer, heres a link to see what they are: www.energizer.com/products/lithium/Although I went out caching a cople weeks ago and fogot the caching bag, so stopped ba Carrs and grabed a pack of them. When I put them in the GPS (garmin 60csx) I couldn't get them to work. I thought they may be dead so took them back in the store and they had a tester and they were ok. Odd that they didn't work for me.

I do it more often than that though when in the field (or downtown). And, remember the "pointy ends" of the batteries must face in opposite directions.

I looked all over on line to purchase lithiums in bulk. Forget it! It is cheaper to buy at Walmart once you figure in postage. And there aren't any real bargains out there.

I should try Lithium batteries - bringing extras because rechargeables run out quickly is annoying.

ya, that was the first thing I tryed. I don't know why it wouldn't reconize the batterys. It could have been possably that there battery checker didn't work correctly on lithium batterys and they realy were dead but they were brand new batteries, still sealled in the package and had an exp date of 2010

I found a battery charger called renew-it that charges "dead" disposable alkaline battery's to 95% capacity in about 72 hours. if anyone is interested I will dig up the link to the store where I bought it.
