Here's a chance to help a great guy at AK Dept of Fish & Game in his efforts to restore the Anchorage Coastal Refuge to near-pristine good looks. If you're able to participate, be sure and sign the volunteer log as a geocacher!
Press Release:
Have an hour or two to spare? Interested in helping clean up part of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge near the Kincaid Motocross Park ?
We are trying to consolidate a bunch of small junk (tires, 55-gallon drums, etc) into piles so that they can then be removed after the ground freezes. We are looking for some help moving the junk out of the marsh to dry land.
When: Saturday, October 27, 2007.
Time: Noon (it should only take about 2 hours. Note: a volunteer crew from ConocoPhillips Alaska moved the bulk of the junk but we still have a few remaining items).
What to bring: hip boots would be best but rubber knee boots will work, rain gear, rubber or leather work gloves, and a shovel and rope (if you have them)
Where: meet at the Kincaid Motocross Park . Take Dimond Blvd west until it ends and makes a right hand turn becoming Jodhpur Street . About ΒΌ mile down Jodhpur Street , turn left into the Jodhpur trailhead of Kincaid Park . Drive all the way to the back end of the trailhead to the motocross track. We will hike down the bluff below the motocross track.
