Wes: I'll help you in whatever manner you'd like with this CITO Event. I hope we have good weather!

I'm hoping this year's supersnowfall doesn't make it so we need to move the date back two weeks... but it might be prudent. We can plan now, but won't take the listing live till we see how the month of March fares...
We've had two years of awesome weather for this event - I'd like it to become a tradition!

Now that we have moved past Perihelion (Jan 3) and zooming for equinox (Mar 21) we'll have more than 12 hours a day of snow melting sunlight. I'll bet (a geocoin) that the snow will be 95% gone (from the stadium field) for the CITO event. No bets from Dr Bleh -

Easter Sunday was a deep snow date. I will peruse my gocoin needs and tell you which one I need.

The only proviso is that the coin has a $20.00 (twenty dollar) maximum limit, then, powmia, do we have a wager? 95% of the snow will be melted from the Kincaid stadium field. An area from the two tunnels to the metal finish sign and the base of the hill by the scoreboard to the base of the hill by scorekeeper’s chalet? There is almost always snow around the base of the trees at the Heart Run, Apr 21 last year so I need some major help from the weather machine. The city plows the bike paths the first week in April and they still have a couple inches of ice. Come on Al Gore, help me out here a little -

Hot off the wire - from the campaign offices of Dr Bleh for President -
SNOW ADVISORY FOR JAN 23 / ANCHORAGE / 4-9 INCHES BY MIDNIGHT...
Yeah, look over your gocoin needs closely, powmia - I'm thinking you've got a winner going here! We're already nearly 3 feet over the average seasonal snowfall for this date (as measured at the Sand Lake offices of the National Weather Service - one of the warmest and driest spots in all Anchorage!). We haven't had a heavier than normal snow season in nearly a decade... so we've all gotten used to no snow on the ground by mid-April. With today's storm and more snow forecast this weekend... who knows when we'll see the mud (errrr... ground...) at the Kincaid Stadium?

How much snow are we looking at for the weekend? Bet your tracks are covered at Abondimal Snowbox!

Come on Al Gore, help me out here a little - My idea: Let's not make any wagers, wagers cause wars (which is where the phrase "wage war" originated from). We will just all meet at the field, or as close as we can get to it, and someone (maybe you...maybe me...maybe NW...maybe someone else) can say one way or the other, "I told you so". In the mean time...........GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!

Wow - you two sure took the snow out of Dr Bleh's sails... You decide 'no wage war' and the snow advisory gets cancelled... Can we send you two over to practice some CITO at the School District? ;D ;D ;D

After consulting with Wes, we decided to go for April 28 for the next CITO Event. Since the listing needed to be done yesterday in order to get it in 2 weeks before the event, I did it.
I don't necessarily want to run the CITO Event. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO ADOPT THE EVENT CONTACT ME ASAP. I have fifteen 2007 CITO Geocoins on order but haven't done any other planning. Wes will notify the parks&rec department.

Why are the CITO events at Kincaid? I would say it is one of the cleanest parks in Anchorage.

Because that's where the hosts and the MOA agree to have the event. ANYONE can host an event virtually ANYWHERE they want. So, if someone would like to host a CITO at Russian Jack or some other location, that could happen. NorthWes can set you up with who to contact to make it happen.
And, despite how clean the Kincaid appears to be, the dumpsters do get overfilled and then some at each event.

As soon as school gets out I will have time to think about organizing one.
