Everybody please go to "The Alaska Cache" Face book page and help hyfolks26 win a $100 photo contest.
The Alaska Cache has a monthly book of good deals magazine in the Eagle River area that is running a photo contest this month and hyfolks26 has entered a couple photos. The photo with the most likes by Saturday afternoon is the winner.
We all need to go to "The Alaska Cache" Face book page and like her photos. We can do this.
BTW, also Saturday they're having a poker run game as well with a BBQ when everyone gathers to check the hands. Any one is welcome. Check out their web site for the times.
LETS GO FOLKS, LETS HELP HYFOLKS!!!

I'll be hanging out at the get together with a few Eagle River area cachers to be available for people who might have geocaching questions. Anyone is welcome to come and help out. Maybe we can talk a few more people into playing the game and hiding some new caches.

thank you for aking freeweez. I really want to get her the win.
It is a little difficult to find but here's how to do it.
-Go to "the Alaska Cache" facebook page. -with in the first post called "Quest 4 cache photo drop here" -above the first two photos click on "View more comments" more photos are there. -Like two photos; hyfolks26 at the kids don't float sign and hyfolks with her bro and myself.
Thank you again for helping freeweez and everyone else.
I'd posted a note through my work facebook account on the GCAK facebook page too, to rally support but I don't see it there any more, so please pass the word. There's a fun poker run in Eagle river this Saturday too and a hot dog feed. all for free.

I knew I recognized those two local Eagle River cachers, even before I zoomed in on the photo. I'll get NWC comp. like on that tomorrow Are you all going to do the poker run? How about the BBQ? I'd hoped to have a geocaching info table for Q&A's incase folks had questions about caching but I have to work. Hyfolks my hang out for a while before heading out on the run. I'll be doing a Q&A at our store, it's a card location. Needless to say my card wont be a 1D to find The poker run starts at 9AM and turn in is at 3PM, I'll have a table and a few show items read so anyone who thinks they might want to man a geocaching Q&A table for a while is welcome, just let me know. Did I mention free hotdogs on the BBQ?

Sorry fuzzy I couldn't make it..back to back sixteen hour days have that effect on hobbies. It looks like the photo contest picked up steam on the day of the poker run. What do you think of the overall successfulness of the event and the positive promotion of geocaching? Looks like you couldn't have asked for better weather!!

The over all turn out was a little low. I don't think The Alaska Cache planned it out super well. Plus the weather was TO nice.
It was mostly a thing to get people to flip through the eagle river cache ad magazine and have them go to a few local businesses with the geocaching poker run to get them to the locations and just a fun community activity.
I'd planned on a geocaching Q&A booth for the folks who didn't know about caching. I have to give huge credit to hyfolks26 who manned the booth the whole day while I was at one of the card locations. She answered questions down at the trustworthy hardware store and I talked caching as folks came in for a card.
Did I say huge thanks to hyfolks26 effort? Her help was priceless.
Looking back I could have gotten them a lot more folks there if I had created an event for the area around the same time. I really should have done that. Maybe next year.
RSPace won the $200 poker run. That was very cool. I chatted with them for quite some time when they picked up a card from me. mlb&lrb stopped by on the run(also donated swag to talk about) and I also meet Aktraveler and DwidDwid.
Over all it was a fun Saturday. We'll see about doing it again next year.

The video of hyfolks and you being interviewed was awesome! Way to go for promoting caching! It seems like I remember a time a number of years ago when there was an 'official' event in conjunction with the 'poker-run'. The weather was so nice that Seward and family took precedence. So glad that RSPace won! They are fairly new cachers and I know Sara from UAA! How cool is that? Thanks for your work on it.....and I'll thank Hyfolks when I see her next! Kudos!!
