How do we feel about adopting a mile for a CITO Event once or twice a year. A sign posted with GeocacheAlaska on it would be cool!

Hay, good idea. I wonder how many caches could be placed along a mile of road. ;}

Hay, good idea. I wonder how many caches could be placed along a mile of road. ;} Using the anti-cache saturation rule of no cache being closer than 0.1 mile from any other cache, ten would be the limit. If the road curves, something less than ten. That's assuming the Alaska approver would approve such a "power trail."

I like this idea. We go to AK DOT's Right of Way folks and ask to adopt a specific section of roadway. A neat candidate would be the C Street extension, south of Dimond Blvd. It's due to open this weekend, is about 12 blocks or 3/4 of a mile in length, and has bike/pedestrian access trails along its length. It also has some nifty 'dark' zones without any caches in there yet... but yu can be sure scobey & I are looking it over!

Okay, I am not as up to speed on my sister's job... She is now working in a new department but she will send me more information tomorrow when she gets to work. She also said to check the website and I have not done that yet.

Shoot - I might get to make our sign on the new state contract... We just dispatched the final signage sets to be installed out on the C Street extension (at 10am 11/2) - they're very very close to being able to open it!

Unfortunately, someone beat us to adopting this stretch of road. When the project manager gets an inventory together of where opportunities exist he will contact me. Probably in a month.

I sent a copy of the PDF to NorthWes, Scobey and LBK but if anyone else would like a copy, here is the link: www.dot.state.ak.us/stwdmno/mno_cr.shtmlYou'll have to select the Adopt a Highway doc. Or email me and I will send you a copy.
