A new one for the geocaching lexicon...
"Zombie Caches" are all of those low quality hides out there in generally poor quality containers, at uninspiring locations, where the CO is no longer involved in geocaching, the Needs Maintenance attribute is set, but the cache is still getting regular Found It logs. So the cache, which should be dead and long since archived, continues to live on with finders occasionally dumping out the water and adding some new log pages.

They can be a bit disheartening if the caching community doesn't do onsite maintenance. The red wrench never gets cleared. Caches in need of adoption, without a way to release their ownership title...
