I had to remind myself of this after logging a DNF on a cache today, Dec 1, 2006, in a field...within 90' of a road...with only one obstacle around......and footprints around it. Easy boy, calm down, it's only a game.

Would it have helped if I had a hint like: None for now?

<snip>...it's only a game. Bite your tongue!!! ;D It's a hobby,an addiction, a job, a pain in the .........., it's a pastime, it's an education, it's a form of cache and release, it is a stress reducer, it is a financial burden..... what else is it? It's a vent for frustration, an outdoor activity, a chance to get away from the kids/spouse/dog/house/co-workers/work in general/general's at work...it's a .........................................

;D Where would the game logic take us? If it is a game then it should be a high school letter sport? Professional geocachers and geocaching coaches? Today on ESPN4, geocaching X-treme, we are going for MTboy’s Yankee cache in under 2 hours and the grand prize will be $20 million dollars to the winner. Contestants will be covered in bacon grease and we have placed moose kill on the trial. Good Luck and may the best cacher win!

That's sick, Oleruns... Yankee Cache in two hours? I'm out of the running before I've left the house! Where's my inhaler??? I'm wheezing just thinking about it... I get to feeling pretty confident that I can find about anything and then I get served a really big plate of humble pie... *sigh*... ain't it great to write those dnf logs, powmia? Of course, I get super worried when I can't find the GPSr and the car keys (like this morning) but Mrs NW says that's a different kind of DNF... (which I couldn't get her to spell out - Dumb Nutty Fruitcake?)

We had a big DNF last night. We did Mission Impossible and Operation Blue moon, again to get the location of tactical advantage. We hiked to it and found about 8 of the the first few markers. And the trail went frigid. We wandered around for about an hour checking every which way and had to go home empty. To be so close without the find. It was hard to leave empty handed. PS those 3D pyramid firetacks suck after it snows.

We wandered around in a circle and luckily found it. It was a looooong cylindrical cache. I used some of the "official" off the record GOcaching phrases while searching for that one.

I can't believe the feeling is still with me on this one over 24 hrs later. Which is why I have a hard time remembering it is only a........well whatever it only is. Not being able to find car keys is not a type of DNF. It is a memory loss disease. It is caused as a result of..... of......................of.......of...memory loss (That is it, in medical jargon terms).

I agree, we did ran into the same problem.... but at that dead end we made a sharp left turn and BAM!

I had to remind myself of this.......... it's only a game. This GAME helps me to by substituting the chaos of reality with very precise rules, which must be scrupulously respected where as reality continues to be disrespected around us. This GAME is an ART!
