I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with the Garmin Nuvi 550?

I'm assuming you're asking about geocaching and my opinion is that these devices aren't really suited to geocaching. I have used then on business trips to get me in the area to locate my find but they lack the specificity...read accuracy for the purpose of geocaching. There have been many examples over the last 6 months or so of local cachers using them to place geocaches with lackluster success at best. Just my opinion. They are great devices for what they are intended...getting you from A to B. Sorry I can't be more specific with the particular 550 model. I just wanted to put in my 2 cents regarding their use in the geocaching arena.

Just curious if anyone had used one as they do have a paperless geocaching mode. I have a Nuvi 255 and Garmin Etrex Legend but was really wanting one of those all-in one units.

I use a Nuvi 660 (no longer in production) to get me to the area of the cache I am hunting for when there are streets involved and I am not familiar with the area, or to determine the fastest route to take to that area. Then, I use a regular GPSr to finish the hunt.

That is awesome, I think it's a great idea for the Nuvii's to have a geocaching function! I'll have to stay on the look out if I do a rent-a-car again. Nice feature.

I've been looking for one and the only retail establishment that I've seen with any is Accupoint in Anchorage. The Nuvi 500/550 appears to be the only Nuvi series that has the geocaching function.

Go there, enter the coordinates of a GOcache that you know is in the woods/off road, and see where the map takes you, and what the accuracy is.
