WOW!!! I have been reading the posts here for a little bit and there is a plethora of info already in the forums (as that makes a good forum). I will be going TDY (USAF) in May/June time frame and will be knocking out some caches. I am coming from Okinawa Japan where I started Geocaching at. I have gotten some info from the people at the groundspeak forums. My buddy and I plan on renting a vehicle for our tenure there so transportation wont be an issue. We will of course do a lot of the caches in town but can anyone mention some close by caches (20-40 miles) that are very scenic? I would like to get some awesome pics to show the wife and all.
Also, if there is anyone that has any TB/GC's that they would like to travel to Japan let me know and I will bring them back.
Not that we (geocachers) need a reason to get together and geocache, but if anyone would like to while I am there I always enjoy meeting fellow geocachers (no, i'm not a stalker or nothing like that ;D

I can't get a straight answer from any of the websites out there. How many hours of daylight am I looking at during late May to mid June time frame?
Thanks again, Joe

While the sun will set and rise in the Anchorage area, it will never get completely dark during the time period you mention unless you drop south to the Alaskan panhandle.
Several local cachers have created favorite cache bookmark lists. Check those out as a starting point. I'll be updating my Anchorage favorites sometime during the next two weeks.
You can also get a sense of the most scenic caches by surfing Alaskan cachers' photo galleries on the gc.com website.
Enjoy your visit!

See this web page for your daylight and averages temps. www.alaskalandandsea.com/weather.html But you just say coming to Alaska. Not where. But I know what units are where for Red Flag 08-3 and guess you will be at Elmo and not Eielson. So you will have a little less daylight there than farther north, but not enough you'd notice. Sun goes down, but it's not really dark.
