If you have geocaching photos from your vacation or from outside of Alaska, these may also be submitted for inclusion in the GeoFest slide show by sending them to the same email account as above, but using the tag [SLIDE SHOW] in the subject line of your email. I'm certain all of these categories will have photos from this weekend's HOBO CITO Event Series!
Adventure (extreme) - traveling from Homer to Girdwood with this crew - epic adventure... Children - making s'mores around the campfire... Containers - full of trash... Flora - well... this one's tough, but maybe some spruce trees could give a dash of green... People - what's this HOBO crew going to look like on Sunday afternoon at Girdwood... Places - certainly a candidate for photos, as this is one of the most scenic routes in North America... Whimsy (fun) - Sure, this is going to be fun - look who's involved... Wildlife - Bears and moose and whales, oh my... Winter - Yup - this one's being reloaded for HOBO CITO Fun as we speak!

Fellow Geocachers!!!
If you're like me, you've probably noticed some leaves hinting at yellow and maybe even glanced at the height of the fireweed. That means that the photo contest is nearing the end. Start gathering up your best pictures from the summer and send them in for the photo contest. Remember that you get to submit up to 4 photos in each category this year, so don't hold back.

Fellow Geocachers!!! If you're like me, you've probably noticed some leaves hinting at yellow and maybe even glanced at the height of the fireweed. Yup! I just took a two-day Fall color driveabout about the Glenn/Richardson/Denali/Parks Highways. 600 miles of mountains and an unbelievable riot of colors in some places. I haven't looked at the photos, yet, but I hope I have a calendar page or two mixed in the batch. Only four!?! I always have a hard time whittling down the thousands of images I shoot each year. Fortunately, I've already whittled down everything up to last weekend to a bucket of forty which I'll merge with the best of the newest batch. Then I'll sort by category, add the required information, and send them off. I look forward to seeing the images other people took during the year! Thanks for organizing the contest this year!

It was decided at the BoD meeting last night to extend the deadline on this contest a bit further. With several Fall events coming up, we are hoping to give cachers a little more time to capture some perfect photos for the 2014 Calendar.
The new submission deadline is October 27 at midnight. Weekly email reminders will be going out between now and the end of the contest.

Hmmm, something goofy happened during uploading of Container pix 2 & 3 (rotated and aspect altered). Will have to fix that before pushing the survey out, since the survey is pulling the photos direct from our website.

I found it fun to see some photos that were almost duplicates of some I took - both ones I entered and ones I didn't. And to see someone else entered one of Miss S! :-)
Lots of great photos - it was tough to narrow down.
Lots of fun to see the talent in this group, too!

He deserves his popularity. He is fun to be around, runs a great event and a great guy to go caching with...and thinks his way through to earn the difficult 'rotten' ET smileys!!!
CONGRATULATIONS Fuzzy!!!!

I think Fuzzy should be an inset on each month. He can inspire us and make us smile all year long.

According to my super secret spyware... November.
Though I was thinking that he would fit into the Spring cleaning season of May pretty well. I'm trying to theme the photos with the months where possible.

I have to say, the Zazzle designing process on their website is one of the most painful processes I've been involved with. Each little tweak is followed by about a minute of "updating" on the webpage. Frustrating, to say the least. Better idea... put text directly on photos prior to uploading. Then I only have to deal with an image on the designer, rather than image plus text boxes.

...and yes, fuzzy looks great - show that photo to a land manager and say "here's a typical attitude during our CITO Events!"

Calendar is online at Zazzle and will be available for direct sales to the public sometime tomorrow. We have ordered 50 for distribution through our store. During layout, I pulled from the additional 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers to place an additional 2 images on each of the pages with a vertical aspect photo (2 months) and another 6 images on the back cover.
