Geocachealaska has moved it's domain name and webpage hosting from Network Solutions to 1and1.com. I hope to complete the move of the webpage today. This move saves Geocachealaska around $200 a year.

Cache on! Will we, the members, have to make any changes, do anything, etc. Mostly no... 1. These forums will stay right here at this url. 2. The GeocacheAlaska! website can still be found at www.geocachealaska.org, though I see some of the menu icons and perhaps other things didn't make the transfer. I'll try another browser from home to see if I still see the same problems. 3. Those folks that have @geocachealaska.org e-mails will need to access their accounts via the webmail link in the upper right-hand corner of the www.1and1.com home page. You can configure MSOutlook, MSOutlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird to pull e-mail from the server by pointing at the appropriate POP3 or IMAP server following the instructions found [blue]here.[/blue]Many thanks to Scobey for making this a relatively bumpless transfer. The website stayed up and my Monday morning PQs streamed in right on schedule!

I have been using 1&1 for hosting for the past 5 years for many web sites and have never had any issues with them. I have had horrid customer service and lost a $mall fortune to Network Solutions after canceling them for several clients. Go-Daddy once was very nice and it was the most affordable for quite some time. Then they decided to go big time and hired "enhanced" girls to promote their image during the Superbowl and then went downhill. I have relatives who work for Go-Daddy and they understand why I don't use them any longer. 1&1 is the worlds largest hosting service and when you are big there are always going to be neigh sayers. I have had nothing but outstanding service and support from 1&1 and highly recommend them if you are looking for a hosting solution. I do not know how they are for the Average Joe, but they have more than met mine (and clients) needs very satisfactorily for quite some time. They are quite professional and their front line techs have a bit more on the ball than Network Solutions. Granted they are not all stellar as I have had to step some of them through a few things, but they were resolved rather quickly and without much ado. my $.02

I never got a very quick answer to any question I had at Network Solutions. Their customer service isn't what a company yhat size should have. So far 1and1 has been very user friendly and responded quickly to questions.

I have never dealt with either. I have been looking into a web hosting solution and found that info.
