Be advised that work crews are preparing to begin the upgrade of Crow Creek Road, off the Alyeska Highway in Girdwood. Work includes widening and paving the road all the way up to the current school bus turnaround, and replacement of the single-lane bridge over California Creek. Any caches in close proximity to the road will be in danger of being destroyed by the soon-to-happen vigorous roadbuilding... As for what it's going to look like while it's under construction? Well, it can't be any worse than what it looks like now, either before or after a heavy rain... can it? Cachers should also know that the Hand Tram crossing from the Crow Creek Road side of the gorge over to the Winner Creek Trail is inoperable until later this summer. Vandals cut the tramline... so all Winner Creek Trail caches (new ones and my older ones) have to be accessed from the Alyeska Resort end of the trail. On the bright side, that trail's now home to 7 caches along a 4.5 mile (out & back total) trail hike on one of Chugach National Forest's best trails (good grief - there's boardwalks over the muddy swampy parts in most places! I've seen hotel guests walking it in flip-flops...). I understand (from usually reliable sources) there's more caches to come on this trail system, so stay tuned (besides - we gotta have a reason for Karma123 to return in the summer - when the bears and wolves are roaming the trail too!) Hey - I wonder if anyone's ever worn high heels up that trail?

Hey - I wonder if anyone's ever worn high heels up that trail? I wouldn't touch that question with a ten foot pole.

Looks like Frosty will be making another road trip soon... As for the road, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! That road has needed something done to it for as long as I have been in Akaska. I remember the first time going over it 40 years ago, in the back of my dads International pickup. That was one bouncy muddy road. The trail was a great hike the other day, and all the caches along the way make a great incentive to go all the way. I also herd that there may be more caches to come along the trail. I even thought of one (how-much-wood-could-a-wood-duck-duck-if-a-wood-duck-could-duck-wood) but thinking of and placing are two different things. I will defenently be hiking that trail some more this summer.

The cache is currently frozen under much ice.
Remember that when you get farther down the trail there you enter the Chugach National Forrest and then no caches are allowed. Watch for the signs or use your maps well.
