I've been thinking on this one ever since we met the Tundrabums at the Pedro Discovery Cache. With lil' Tundrabum walking around and there being all sorts of rusted metal around - it didn't seem to be a good mix. But maybe too late in the year? There are two caches in the area and outhouses too.
Thoughts?

I've had to miss the last two events so would love the chance at another. I think that area is about to go under some type of construction though, at least back up behind there.

I don't think it's too late in the year if it gets on the calendar. To be posted as an event, it has to be submitted to gc.com two weeks in advance, so you'd be looking good for the weekend of October 14 if you get the event page submitted this week. Then, we can keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't snow.
The Pedro Monument area would be a great place to start since it's an attraction for locals and tourists alike.
GeocacheAlaska! also has a dozen or so CITO t-shirts that could be sold at the event.
Let me know if you need any help putting together the CITO Event cache page or with other aspects of hosting an event.

Any update on this?
I also have a few 2006 CITO Geocoins to toss into the mix.

It's snowing in Fairbanks. Not sticking, yet.

It's snowing in Fairbanks. Not sticking, yet. Guess it depends on where you are...we have an inch on the ground and more coming down halfway up Skyline.

What a difference a month makes!!! September 2 at Chena Lake: Today in our back yard...Ingrid's wondering where the dogsled is: The forecast is for temperatures to return to 50° F this week, so the snow should go away and uncover the CITO opportunities.

Well, I wasn't enough on the ball for this one - so I think I will plan something for spring. How does the first Saturday in June sound (June 2)? Is this too far away to get entered into Geocaching?

Ooops!!! I was a bit slow responding to this one. Per the gc.com Event Guidelines, "Event caches should be submitted no less than two weeks prior to the date of the event, so that potential attendees will have sufficient notice to make their plans. Events are generally listed no more than three months prior to the date of the event, to avoid having the listing appear for a prolonged period of time on the nearest caches page and in the weekly e-mail notification of new caches. Exceptions are sometimes made for events that are designed to attract a regional, national or international group of geocachers..." So, it's probably a bit early to post a late Spring CITO event, but the time is right for someone to step up and host an [glow=red,2,300]Interior Holiday Geoevent![/glow]
