Fellow Geocachers and Members of GeocacheAlaska! The March 2014 “ Around the State” Newsletter was just published. It is available for direct download from our Newsletter Archive. In it you will find 9 action-packed pages of news and information about geocaching in The Great Land. It is packed full of information from our club President, NorthWes, insider information about what’s happening with the GeocacheAlaska! Inc. Board of Directors and our various committees, and some timely cache maintenance and proximity tips from our local Greatland Reviewer. This month we have a travel caching report from Homer cacher NeverSummer as he braved the “Arctic Vortex” to go sub-zero caching down in Minnesota while we all sat around in balmy Alaska working on our sun tans last month. Anchorage cachers AlaskaCariboozer and SnowySwan have provided us with some great tips for winter family caching with the kids. And Soldotna cacher SSO JOAT gives us step-by-step instructions on how to find and fix your “Bad Stats” from duplicate logs in your geocaching.com profile. Our GeocacheAlaska! 2014 Pathtag design contest is well underway. It kicked off a month ago and the deadline for entries has been extended out to St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. So you still have time to get a design entered in the contest. You’ll find the contest particulars detailed on Page 4 along with some samples of last year’s pathtag winners. And a brand new feature to our newsletter this month is an Alaskan Cacher’s Caching Achievements Top Ten list. Yeah, try to say that ten times fast. This is to be a regular feature in the newsletter where we pull a Top Ten list of Alaskan Cachers or Alaskan Caches based on whatever statistic comes to mind right before the next newsletter goes to press. We hope you’ll enjoy checking out who or what made the cut! As always, all editions of our newsletter are available on our website at www.geocachealaska.org/newsletters.htmThank you to all the members who contributed content to this month’s newsletter and to our Editor down in Homer, the_Firefly, for making it pretty for us. We hope you love the new format. You may send your feedback as well as just about any geocaching-related content to be placed in future editions by emailing it to editor@geocachealaska.org. Anyone is welcome to submit content for your newsletter, so consider writing up a couple paragraphs about a recent caching adventure along with a photo or two or maybe you have some neat tips and tricks to share. Whatever it is, write it up and send it in. We look forward to hearing from you! Warmest Regards, GeocacheAlaska! Inc. Board of Directors

Say folks, are any of you getting a dark box around "Around The State", and possibly washed out photos, when you view this newsletter in a browser? If so, which browser are you using? And is it gone when you view it in Adobe Reader? Thanks for the input.

Say folks, are any of you getting a dark box around "Around The State", and possibly washed out photos, when you view this newsletter in a browser? If so, which browser are you using? And is it gone when you view it in Adobe Reader? Thanks for the input. Yes. FireFox 27.0.1 does that with the Abode Acrobat 10.1.9.22 plug in. I checked IE 11 which uses the same Abobe Acrobat plug in, and it displays just fine with that. Looking at it with the regular Adobe Reader (10.1.9) also displays just fine (and looks a lot better on screen than it does through the browser plug in). So, it looks like it is an issue within the current version of FireFox and how it works with the Adobe plug in.

Looks like it works fine in Chrome, as well.

OMG...there is a problem with the almighty Firefox?!?!? Could it be true? No. It is a problem with the Adobe Reader plug-in and therefore up to Adobe to fix their plug-in to work properly within FF.
