Was anyone affected by the automated archivals that happened this week? Groundspeak is starting to be concerned about the hundreds of thousands of un-published caches that are in the works(in some cases) by cahers. Their way points show up on the reviewers information they use to determine proximity issues. This past week ground speak opted to automate the archival process (as stated by Greatland Reviewer in another thread) and over 131,000 un published caches where archived that ranged from 1 year and older. NOTE; *****A CACHER C AN EASILY GET THE UN-PUBLISHED CACHE LISTING UN-ARCHIVED***** so don't be freaking out I think this was a good idea and I could see how it affects reviewers as well as potential cache hiders.

Nope. I followed GLR's directions and still have all 3 of mine, though only 1 of them is over a year old.
I do think it was a good idea. I imagine that there were a large number of unpublished caches that were owned by inactive accounts. The more junk data you can get out of the way, the better the system will be. I'm just glad that they added in the 'actively edited' check to avoid removal of listings that were actually being worked on.
I like to keep an unpublished traditional listing at all times. This gives me a cache page to edit when trying something new with HTML and layout stuff. It also gives me a GC# to put on the log of the next cache hide. I can then hide the container when a good spot presents itself and then come back and edit the cache page to match the hide. After publishing the new cache, you create a new listing, put the coordinates in a cache-free zone (middle of the ocean works well) to avoid messing with reviewer stuff and hold the GC# until you find the next good spot.

I like that idea of have a GC#, and a cache page where you can try some different things. And good idea about picking a spot out in the North Pacific.
I wonder why Groundspeak didn't announce it better. We where lucky up here to have Greatland keeping in touch with the local cachers. I've been following the forums over there and many people where surprised to have listings archived. Finally a lackey posted what was going on.
