I am looking for someone very familiar with the Hatcher Pass area. My eyes cant see very well close up but from a distance I can see quite well. When driving home I can clearly see what resembles a road or some type (it is clearly a straight line) in the snow and in the summer what appears to be a road. On sunny days I know I see a reflection of something well reflective (glass, metal or whatever). I would love to hike up but it's winter and I and not equipped to just hike up.
So does anyone have any first hand knowledge or what might be up there? Below are the coords of the area I am seeing from the valley.
61° 43.393'N 149° 25.760'W

Perhaps the trail and B29 crash site referenced by GC2CZV2? I believe the snowmachiners play up there, too. Photos of the route and plane are here.I do not know where this trail begins, but I am very intrigued.

Go up Church Road till you get to the end and go left on Shrock Road and then after you go over teh river there is a "Y and here you bear to the right which according to google is is Sitze Road. As you go up it it will turn left and then a hard right after that right there is a small stream that goes under the road and on the left there is an open field with a trailer parked there and you just go in there and park. The trail is right there. a word of caution on this trail. It can be very dangerous in the summer as if t gets wet the clay base here muds up the ATV tires and you can slde off the trail in places. There are a couple of steep places on the way up too. On an ATV in the summer when you get to the top you really should just stop there and walk across the bog that is at the top and not tear it up any more then it already is and go over to the wreckage. I am sure in the winter on Snowmachines there would be no problems getting to the wreckage. It is just down the hill sort of below the tower at the top.

It was just posted a couple of days ago on the forum but looks like it has been you tube for a little while. A well done video and short history on the site as well. A heck of a trail to ride on an ATV if you are a beginner this trail is not one to try and ride until you have some experience. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh_OD-WF3SU&feature=player_embedded

I thought about the B-29 also but when I looked at the cache listing the crash site is about 2.6 miles to the West of this site. So anyone have a snow machine that can carry 2 and is also curious?
