It’s time again to nominate people to serve on the GeocacheAlaska!, Inc Board.
If you would like to become a member of the board or know someone who does please nominate them. Nominations will be accepted until 25 September 2010.
What are the requirements? If elected you must be or become a premium member of GeocacheAlaska!, Inc.
The Board of Directors positions are: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, four Member At Large positions and Web Master.
All positions are a one year term.
If you would like to get more involved and participate on the Board please throw your hat in the ring. We would like to encourage everyone to get involved and help steer this organization to a bright future as a advocate for the sport of geocaching.
Watch this thread for more information and to make and second the nominations.
A formal ballot election will be conducted the last week of September and first week of October with a final paper ballot option at the 10/10/10 Event. This will be the final chance you can cast your vote. A electronic vote will be conducted at the end of September with the closing date on 10/10/10 with the formal paper ballots.
So lets get the nominations started!

Watch this thread for more information and to make and second the nominations. I suppose I should clarify my question (actually - to amplify it), because it looks pretty obvious that we're to post a reply in this thread naming the individual we'd like to nominate to a particular position. After an eligible cacher is nominated by a post in this thread - what happens next? Do we wait for someone else to second that nomination? Are all GeAK! members notified via email of the open nomination period? When does the nomination period close?

Are all GeAK! members notified via email of the open nomination period? When does the nomination period close? After an eligible cacher is nominated by a post in this thread - what happens next? One a cacher is nominated the board will verify the cacher's membership in GeAK! and then place them on the ballot. Do we wait for someone else to second that nomination? No you do not need to wait for someone else to second the nomination. Are all GeAK! members notified via email of the open nomination period? GeAK! will make every effort to notify members of the open nominations through announcements at Events, word of mouth, and email. When does the nomination period close? The nomination period will close 25 September 2010. This is to ensure all members have ample time to step up and be heard.

Well, I nominate Polgera for Treasurer. (She's fishing right now, so it's safe to throw her name in the hat while she's off-line!)

The instructions in the original thread state nominations and seconds in this thread not email. If after many of us risked personal injury by making our choices public isn't it fair that everyone must don a hockey mask after they hit reply (humorous way to state transparency in the nomination process please).

I would also like to nominate NorthWes for Secretary. (I caught a peek at his binder he uses at the board meetings and it has to be the most organized thing I've ever seen.)

Yes they do state that, I am only trying to encourage more members to volunteer and if need be I will push the nomination, I am in no way trying to undercut this process. I just want to ensure people have a chance.

AKFossil I was just throwing out my two cents, not intending to make anyone think something was being undercut. I feel transparency is very important (yeah yeah I work for the gov't I know lol). I feel that if you want to nominate or self nominate you should be comfortable enough with your choice to stand by it publicly. Therefore your choice has more seriousness, importance and credibility. With as much work heart and soul that goes into GEAK, in my humble opinion, nominating to positions of office I think is a big deal and should be public, open and celebrated (c: Like I said just my two cents which isn't probably worth more than a wooden nickel.

And, to add to the regional diversity of the Board, I nominate the Mat-Su Valley's Northern Robin.
Northern Robin has hosted events in the valley and has worked with the Education Committee to bring the FUNdamental Event remote learning curriculum to Valley cachers.
