I'll start:
I nominate FrostG1anT for a second term as President.
He's done a nice job of shepherding the fledgling Board of Directors through Forming, Storming, and Norming and is on the verge of Performing.

Well, the board members are supposed to be Premium Members, although as of right now the By-Laws don't state that. Premium Membership is $20 a year, and entitles you to discounts at events and on geo-bling. Also allows you to vote for board members.
Duties are as any board. President presides. Vice president schedules meetings and locations, supervises the nominating committee, tabulates ballots. Treasurer keeps financial records, makes deposits, pays bills, files nonprofit paperwork. Secretary records minutes, maintains documents, maintains list of membership. Webmaster manages this website. We all plan events like CITOs, Indian Summer, Holiday Party, etc. We organize outreach such as the Intro to Geocaching events and the Girl Scout Encampment. We respond to placement issues with Land Managers like Ft. Rich.
The By-Laws spell out the duties, and should be posted somewhere on this sight.
This year we did a lot of work with incorporating and becoming a nonprofit. But it was fairly painless (for me, anyway) and a lot of fun.

How many members are there in geocache alaska? I was planning becoming a member but I never really saw the location to do that. Perhaps I am slow...is there another website besides this forum?
Do you think that it would be a good idea to have a website with the forum embedded?
Paypal sign up would be a good way to make it easy to sign up.

Hi mtboy, I don't have the exact number, but I believe we're between 30-40 premium members affiliated with GeocacheAlaska! It took some maneuvering, but LBK has been working very hard on updating the main web page at www.geocachealaska.org and we have a link on that main page where you can download a membership form. There is also a link to the forums from the main page. We're also working on getting a Paypal account for the group, so folks may choose to pay that way in the future, but currently the only way to join is via the mail or show up at a GeAK! event (where we will have forms available). I hope this helps! SaidbyStacy

I would like to nominate FTL-AK for a Member at Large position. He has the drive and the determination to make GeocacheAlaska GREAT! I think that he would be a great addition to the team. And I dont think that he will be out of town for 6 months during the busiest time of the year when there is a lot of work to be done and events to be planed.

I nominate NorthWes for a Member at Large position.
Wes has been instrumental in many positive land manager interactions with Chugach State Park, Chugach National Forest, the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), and others. He also created the original syllabus for the Introduction to Geocaching course taught for the MOA and hosted what I believe was Alaska's first CITO event in addition to the first GeoFest and more than a dozen other events. Wes was the hand (or mouse) behind the two micro geocoins produced to date by GeocacheAlaska! and he created several of the custom icons for the micro and regular-sized geocoins. Finally, he's given even more back to the geocaching community by hiding somewhere around five dozen caches and providing lots of guidance on benchmark hunting.

Although she is not too hasty to run out in the forest and battle a bear to find a geocache, she did do a great job at organizing the 9/9/9 event!

I would like to nominate the incumbent, LBK, to a second term as GeocacheAlaska! webmaster. I accept Tinman4x’s nomination for GeocacheAlaska! Webmaster. I wish to continue serving as the GeocacheAlaska! Webmaster to facilitate communication about all matters geocaching to the Alaskan geocaching community via the GeocacheAlaska! website, the GeocacheAlaska! forums, and direct e-mail. Frequent, rapid, and comprehensive communication across members is critical to the success of any organization. Creation and maintenance of a web-hosted knowledge base for Alaskan and visiting geocachers is important to help them stay abreast of land management issues, geocaching etiquette, geotechnology, upcoming events, and Alaskan geobling. Scobey and I coauthored the original version of the GeocacheAlaska! website and I recently refreshed it with lots of new content. I maintained the Alaska Skijor and Pulk Association website until my family and I moved to Anchorage about two years ago. I am a five-year Premium Member of Groundspeak and a Premium Member of GeocacheAlaska! My contributions to the geocaching community include placing and maintaining more than one-hundred caches, coordinating seven geocoin and three geopin projects, co-moderating the GeocacheAlaska! forums since their inception, and serving on the steering committee that developed the initial GeocacheAlaska! by-laws. I have previous and current Director experience with the Alaska Dog Mushers Association (two years, one as Vice President), the Alaska Skijor and Pulk Association (eight years, Newsletter, Annual Program, and Website), and the Anchorage Skijor Club (two years, Treasurer). The variety of my experience makes it possible for me to fill most any need when it arises and to provide guidance where/when necessary. I look forward to continuing to serve if selected by the GeocacheAlaska! membership. This statement of purpose was posted at the request of the Nominating Committee, which requested the same of all Board of Directors candidates.

I'll follow LBK's lead and accept Polgera's nomination for GeocacheAlaska! Secretary.
Hi, I'm SaidbyStacy.
I am currently serving as Vice-President for GeocacheAlaska! and would like to serve another year on the Board of Directors as Secretary. The position of Secretary is essential to our organization for the Secretary maintains all essential records (such as permits and licenses) and legal documents (business licenses, corporation paperwork) required for our organization to exist and function smoothly.
I have been a Premium Groundspeak member since August 2007 and am currently a GeocacheAlaska! Premium member. I served on the GeocacheAlaska! Steering Committee prior to GeocacheAlaska!'s formal organization. I also developed the 2010 Calendar photo contest and subsequent calendar (coming very soon!). I have several years of administrative experience and a good amount of that time was spent doing exactly as described above: Maintaining organized and up-to-date records to ease the flow of work for the organization. I excel in this field and would be pleased to continue to provide my time and experience to the benefit of GeocacheAlaska!
Thank you!

I Akbfly (arcticbutterfly) accept Ak4me and Akrambo's nomination for Member at Large.
I wish to be considered to serve as one of the GeocacheAlaska! Members at Large. I have read the GeocacheAlaska bylaws and believe I will be able to fully comply to the description for the job.
I have been a Premium member of Groundspeak for just about 2 years and a Premium Member of GeocacheAlaska for just under a year. Caching-wise, I have placed and maintained 25 caches, hosted 1 (successful) flash mob event, helped Frostg1ant with a group intro to caching, and also enjoy CITO events.
I would like to coordinate more Flash Mob and CITO events. CITO has been a great tool for cachers and I have noticed how much it has helped our parks. The pride my caching kidlets take in knowing they have helped clean is amazing. I would love for that pride in our parks and trails all over this state and city to be spread more and more as GeocacheAlaska! grows larger!
Personally, I work at Providence Hospital as a Telemetry Tech/HUC II. (I watch patient's heart rhythms and read Dr. orders.) I have 4 caching kidlets who are as obsessed with the sport as I! We can never pass an area without saying hey there should be a cache here! I also love roadtrips, camping, working out, hiking, spending time with my geobuddies, and my caching kidlets!
If anyone has any questions or concerns please email me at arcticbutterfly@hotmail.com
Thank you and Cache on Geobuddies!

I accept FrostG1ant’s nomination for GeocacheAlaska! Treasurer.
I have only held the position of treasurer for a few months. I volunteered for the position when the previous treasurer needed to resign. I believe in the good that an organization like ours has to offer our community and feel that one of the many important aspect of an organization is the control and reporting of funds and funding. I have been a Premium Member of Groundspeak for just over a year and a Premium Member of GeocacheAlaska! I have BBA degrees in both accounting and finance and an MBA. I have over 25 years experience in the field of accounting, have held the position of Treasurer in for profit and not for profit organizations, and I currently teach accounting for Central Texas College on Fort Richardson.
I look forward to continuing to serve if selected by the GeocacheAlaska! membership.
