Anyone want to adopt the cache? The log is full and needs replaced. I am not sure but it has to be one of the most visited caches so it would be nice to keep it going.
Let me know - oleruns@hotmail.com
If I don't hear from anyone in a few days, I'll archive it.
Thanks a million - O

I'll take Spruce Tree near Uranus, if it's still up for grabs. That was my first cache. I'll probably bring back Pluto, too. Maybe Earth will switch to Venus, just for fun.

I would adopt GCXRW5, Ole's Simple Cache .... as I have the containers and it's along my normal life route .... if you no longer wish to maintain it.

Ole, I thought you had that spruce tree near Uranus removed?

Not yet - I am up in the air if I am going to grab Herk and my favorite Jolly Roger. I have made more maps, I just have to get out there. I have been asked why I don't cache much - Paperless caching killed the game for me. People no longer get into the hunt, it's just a numbers game with logs of nothing but "TNLNSL TFTC". Remember the Shadius logs? Those were great!!! His epic battles with Dr Bleh on every find (and DVD). I loved the old night caches (new ones too) and MT Boy's night cache, great stories! The last 700-1000 finds trying to beat Trove Rover were great but my surgery took me out of that race. Racing Malcore to FTFs was a blast too but I can’t hang with the master Duck man no more ;D I'll still go after a mountain cache or two a year but no more landscape hides. What brick is it under? Will the owner come out and shoot me? The plus side is that cachers are a great group of people so I’ll still go to events now and then. (in the winter) I know it’s bad, there are three caches I ride by on my bike every day and have not one time looked for any. I am feet away, at least I know they are there so it’s not a total loss. (most days I don't have my GPS with me ) -Ole

(most days I don't have my GPS with me ) -Ole My thoughts are mostly the same. I have not been interested in searching for 1 year now. The last few I found were done the same old fashioned way...print the cache sheet and carry it with me. I noticed there are hundreds of new ones in the Anchorage area. Maybe the want to cache feeling will return.

Geocaching for me remains about the hunt...i like the adventure. I rarely go out and scour local neighborhoods for the elusive micro caches anymore. My numbers are climbing slowly compared to many cachers...but that is fine. I enjoy getting up high or exploring new areas in search of caches...i try to stick to caches that have the following:
a. quality location b. quality hide c. effort in cache set up (swag, container etc.)
I also like learning about the area. There are many caches that aren't surrounded by million dollar views that I love because the cacher does a good job hiding them and/or teaches me something.
Ole, just go semi retired and chase the high caches. I'll even make a bookmark list of caches that ole should come out of retirement for just incase you change your mind ;D

I do miss the old days of the cool WRITTEN logs in caches. I found a cache from 2001 in colorado and the first few years of logs were great. They talked about their trip there, the weather, and whatever else inspired them. The last couple years were, "TFTC".

I too miss the Shadius logs. He was telling the great stories of him and Dr.Bleh when I started caching and I loved to read them. I would actually look for caches he'd found just to read what he'd written. I also like hiking out to a cache somewhere more remote than the ones in town. Although, I'm not planning on quitting anytime soon. I'll just keep up my every once in a while grab a cache.

I am up in the air if I am going to grab Herk and my favorite Jolly Roger. I have made more maps, I just have to get out there. If you want someone to adopt those two, I will. They are well done, and Jolly Roger is fun. I agree with you. I like caches that take me someplace, or at least get me to take a walk or bike ride. Or show me something. Or have something clever or interesting about them. I like the journey and the hunt.

Sure thing and thank you!!! I think I have another Herk Container, I made two. It will need a little TLC but not much. Plus I have the maps for JR. Thanks again - O
