Here's a new geocoin just arriving in Alaska - very nifty design. I'll have an update on design element significance soon. Stay tuned for more... but I can tell you now this one's going to be traveling 'in the wild' with folks who promise to photograph its journey!

Seems I've seen a coin like that - one with the whales and the Big Dipper. Something about how the whales migrate from the North (the Big Dipper place) to the sunny place?

I recently saw one of these grabbed by CelticKnotClan reported to be headed for a StarGate cache. I wonder if this is one in the same?

Here's the owner's answer to my inquiry about the design:
"The kanji on the front, with the sun, is my first son's name, which is formed from the Japanese characters for "sun" and "light". The kanji on the back, with the stars, is my second son's name, which is formed from the characters for "dark indigo blue" and "the Big Dipper".
The whale, is inspired by Moby thingy (my favorite book), and like Melville's white whale, has multiple and various meanings depending on context, which can get very deep. But the short answer is, it represents me."
It's an awesome coin to see in person... and the tracking number's on the side (it's a very thick coin).

DDRAMS, I know this guy! Very neat to see that he has a coin out too. I met them on Okinawa Japan when I was working over there. he is still there by looking at his profile!

The coin I saw must have been different. But there was a whale, and something about migrating from AK (on one side) to somewhere (on the other side.)
