There's clearly some history or back story that I am not familiar with. I didn't intend to stoke a fire or poke a sleeping bear.
My only hope is that once the dust settles from the digital scuffle, we can redirect some passion, and refocus other passion. I think the feedback is vital, but the "publicly picking on" part and ensuing back-and-forth should stop.
JOAT, I'm constantly blown away by your broad shoulders, what with the website, the calendar contest, and all other items you have taken on in addition to your full time work schedule. I don't like that feedback about the website or other outlets comes across as a slight against your deeply-appreciated efforts. I'm hopeful that we can find a way to support you (both with manpower and praise) in a constructive way.
That said, if there is anything I can do in the meantime to help out the web and outreach processes, please let me know. I also hope others willingly step up to offer their assistance to keep our online presence on the up-and-up!

Thanks for stepping up with the offer to help, Joel. I'm sure Scott A will have some stuff to share, and I'm liking the 'forum reporting to the newsletter' concept very very much.

Another good discussion here....I'm a Facebook fan---and posted the GeoFest 2013 event. Not sure if I was 'supposed' to or not....but the date was getting closer and it had not been posted as yet---So I took the liberty of posting it on FB. I know WOCM (Lisa in Seward) asked about adding a person to the FB group...and I could do it, but I don't know her e-mail address. Once a person is 'in the group' however...anyone can post.

Really, there are no "rules" for posting. Post all you want! Admins of the Group can create events on the facebook page, pin posts to the top of the thread, and do other admin things. Really, it all comes down to participation. If you've got something to share, go for it!

OK Folks. The Forum Admin has "washed" this thread of the little "flame war" that had reared it's head last week. So, with that behind us, let's move on...
I have formed 2 new committee boards in the Sandbox. One is for BP's "cache committee" and the other is for the committee discussed in this thread. I've titled it the "Communication Committee" as it will work out a media communications plan that will span from social media to website to forums to newsletter to email and anything else we can come up with.
I'm placing myself, NS, Mac5115, FireFly and LBK in this committee as a starting point. Within the Sandbox board, we'll launch a thread for each of these media methods to discuss how we are going to utilize it in the best way. Anyone else interested in joining should let me know.

I'm placing myself, NS, Mac5115, FireFly and LBK in this committee as a starting point. Thanks, Scott. However, given recent public and private commentary about my participation in these forums, I think it's best if I don't participate in this committee. I no longer want to be in a position where it can be perceived that I am adversarial toward, dismissive of, unkind to, or bullying anyone. It's never been my intent to be any of those things to anyone, but since that's how my efforts are perceived by others, then I think it is best for me to have a lesser role in discussions in here and elsewhere. I certainly wouldn't want my fellow committee members feeling like I was looming over them.
I apologize for the sarcastic content of the above paragraph. It was inappropriate given the positive things people are trying to achieve. You have a good team assembled that will do well to advance GeocacheAlaska! communications.

I think that these committees are a great idea and excited to be a part of these committees. Thanks!
