My daughter's teachers at Pacific Northern Academy are interested in having me (me?) take the middle schoolers geocaching. I need help. There are about 30 6th - 8th graders. So I would need about 8 or 9 "experienced" geocachers with GPS. (I am counting myself as "experienced", even though that is debatable.) Probably 3 teachers would come, but they have not cached before.
It would be during the school day. They are very flexible, even sometime in the Spring is fine. Is anyone willing to come and help? Any suggestions on where we should cache? They aren't far from UAA/APU, but would Kincaid be better? Do I have them make an account so they can log the finds?
Is there anything I need to know before I embark on this?
Thanks!

It looks like this won't be until Spring. Thanks for offering to help, Scobey and FrostG1anT. I'll get back to you in a few months.

sorry that I missed this post earlier, but let me know if it happens in the Spring, as I might be in Anchorage at the time and would enjoy helping.

Valerieseaker, let me know when you are going to do this as I am most likely available to help in the spring. I like the caches near APU/UAA they are all close and you don't run into as much "Devils Club" there and the trails are pretty simple depending on the number of caches you want to try and find. You could also hide a few that morning for the event just to show them the way it is done. I do that out on Elmendorf because we don't have the time to go off base to look for them so the trees and other buildings around the classroom get to be the area they are hid in! (I do bison, small and reqular sizes usually for them to find) I've seen a few of them out there caching now too! Just holler though via e-mail at me is best or just pick up the phone.

I'll either have Fridays or Mondays off in the spring and would be happy to help out if needed on one of those days. Let me know! =0)

I have some Fridays off, can give someone the schedule as it is already posted and I can bring enouth basic etrex for one per child and if I know the cords I can already set them up. We have them at work for deployments but am not going anywhere for a while. And I can help teach the basics also.
