I am sort of fed up of trying to find micros in the snow to reach my goal of 200 before the end of the year. Any suggestions?

I just went up the side of a hill in chest deep snow for a DNF, those are the cards we have to play. Santa Bro saves most of his for summers, you could do that and adjust your goals. It's a nice reward when you do find one that is under a nice blanket of snow. You could go on a trip and visit New Yorker.... Wait he has snow too!
Good Luck - Ole

I do want the snow, I just want tips to find micros in it - ammo cans aren't that much trouble.

I got Three-Four today and it is a full sized cache. Going through waist deep snow was fun. Then every tree you bump you get snow down your back. But its still fun.

I do want the snow, I just want tips to find micros in it - ammo cans aren't that much trouble. Probe, dig, probe, and dig. Remember back in the Winter Trails Day 3 Event we were searching for Rabbit's Highway with 5 other cachers and came up empty handed. This was larger than a micro. If we had a probe like Malcore mention we would of found it. Build such a probe or break out the big o'metal detector as what LBK wrote earlier. BTW the Rabbit's Highway cache was a foot from where I was searching and digging for quite awhile on the day of the event. Another idea is waiting until a cacher finds it, and then follow the footsteps in the snow.

The vast majority of micros (especially the urban ones) I can think of in Anchorage are winter accessible with the possible exception of one of AKBikenSki's and perhaps "Skeeters Cache" (though I can't be sure because I haven't found it yet after three DNFs ). Also, caches with the attribute should be winter accessible. You can run a Pocket Query for caches with that attribute.

I feel your pain, knappling... I just want to get out of the house again! This holiday's social agenda has me singing the caching blues...
