I know I saw somewhere how to set up instant notifications to go to a cell phone but I can't seem to find it now. Can someone tell me where that is? or explain it here? I just got a new phone for Xmas and want to try and get it set so I can get new cache notifications on it.

It might be a start to open more areas. Once you get it going, you will have to hold off on FTFs for at least 3 consecutive caches. (Yuk Yuk Yuk).

I use Sprint (not yet available to AK residents, but I can access it in Anchorage without roaming) in Blackberry flavor.

I have the phone service threw ACS, I got the data service so I can get web access threw WEP. so I think I have the right access, I just don't know how to implement it. I looked everywhere I could on Geocaching.com but couldn't find the info. I even spent the last four hours going threw the forums and couldn't find it there. I think scobey and northwes have it set up on there phones so I know its avalable in alaska.

Possibly you could present the problem to the folks at ACS at their walk in desk down on Telephone Street (Or Ave, Or Blvd, or whatever that location is called)

Goto your account details by clicking on your name in the top right corner. 3. Click on "Setup Notifications" in the right side menu. 4. Cick on "Create aNew Notification" on the bottom left. 5. You need to set up a notification for each type of cache you want to find. So name the first notification "Traditional Phone". 6. Type to Watch = Traditional Cache 7. Put in your home coords or Zip Code and Distance in miles from your home coord or zip. 8. Put in the email address of your phone. ACS phones email address is 907andyourphone#@msg.acsalaska.com. CellularOne = 907phonenumber@mobile.celloneusa.com 9. Click "Create Notification" 10. Type to watch = Traditional and click in box by "Publish Listing". 11. Click "Create Notification" 12. Done 13. Repeat for Multi-cache 14. Repeat for Puzzle Cache 15. Done 16. In your Subscription List make sure they all have a red check on the left. 17. MALCORE - for this help you will now refrain from FTF chase for 2 weeks :-P

I believe I will begin to reign in a new category of FTDNF. So far, I am doing great. Possibly if this competitive idea catches on, there will be more DNF logs.

I know there are a lot of DNFs that don't get logged so maybe there should be a contest ;-P

Thanks for the help. Now I don't need to check my mail every so often looking for new caches.

hmm, well I just figured out a few more things about doing this. When a notification is sent to me it is limited to 160 charectors total, which includes the subject line. So all i get is the subject line and about half of the text line from the message. Which means I don't even get the waypoint name. So theres no way to use this when im out running around because I still have to come home to get the location from the computer. That kinda defeats the purpose of this option. If they would just put the waypoint name at the first of the email I could use the mini browser in my phone and go to the WEP geocaching site and look up the coords and other info. Not sure if this is worth the extra $15 a month to have the ability for this.

I have to work more on developing a 12 step program for cacheaholics.

;D Wireless laptop that you take with you or a "Crackberry" You'll be unstoppable. I don't use phone notifications... It's better to know what time Erik posts them anyway. Have fun -

Thanks again for the step by step. It came in handy Saturday for a couple FTF's. MrsOMG decided to start caching now. So beware. I doubt she will be chasing FTF's on her own but I will have an extra pair of eyes.
