So I am thinking of doing a group trail walk and geocaching along the way in Ketchikan. I think this would make a unique event but am not sure the logistics of it. Has anyone done any kind of Geocaching Run/Walk? What distance do you think would be good?

Here's some examples of these that I've done:
Cruise cachers in 2013: - A 2 mile hike along trails in Anchorage's Kincaid Park, with elevation changes of 120 feet along the route. - A 1.5 mile hike around Reflection Lake Trail, where the Glen Hwy crosses the Knik River; a relatively flat hike with a half-dozen caches around a lovely lake with Pioneer Peak on the near horizon.
- Good to have water / healthy snacks at start & to carry along the way. I'm always amazed at who doesn't bring a water bottle (or two) along. Arrange a park ranger or knowledgeable local to do a ten-minute 'what to expect' talk before everyone is ready to head out. Safety / Geology / Botany are all good topics. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I can find a bird lover to hike along with - they liven up any walk.
- Just keep in mind that under the current event guidelines, the hike can't be the event itself. The event has to last at least 30 minutes at the posted coordinates. That can be at the trail head while everyone is milling around, at a lunch stop, or at the pub afterwards. Once the 30 minute at some coordinates piece is locked in, the rest of the event page can have details about the associated hike.
