My bother in law works at Cabelas and there was a customer that had asked if any of them knew about geocaching. The customer proceeded to tell them about his terrible experience with a cache that had a small game trap rigged up inside of an ammo can. He was so distraught by this experience he was trying to tell them all how to never go geocaching. My brother in law told him about geocachealaska, my involvement with geocaching and got the number of the cache. It's an opencaching cache OX18F6M named Smokey's Brother is Fishing. It was last found in 2009 by Lil gray I believe. Just thought I would share especially since we had the safety eduvent last month.

What's really odd about the story is that the geocaching.com cache with the same name was a micro placed along the Old Glenn Highway. Last find was in August 2012 and it was archived in November 2013. Skifast and my alter ego found it in Autumn 2009 and there was nothing sinister about it then.
So, I got curious and looked up the cache on the Open Caching website. Same location, same cache description. A minority of cachers cross-listed their caches with Open Caching when Open Caching started up to "protect" the space around their cache or to give the alternative website a try. Some cache seekers also logged their finds of cross-listed caches on both sites which is why L1lgray's and Tundra Tim's logs appear on the Open Caching site.
The description of a game trap rigged inside an ammo can just doesn't fit the original hide and description. Something's truly fishy out there.
