Hey everyone,
What would you say are your top 5 (or ten, the more, the better) most scenic caches in Alaska?
Trying to get the wife involved more in geocaching and I have only geocached with her on urban ones in Anchorage. I think she would like the more scenic ones because she likes taking scenic photos with her fancy camera.

What would you say are your top 5 (or ten, the more, the better) most scenic caches in Alaska? Are you asking about scenic drive-up caches or hiking caches. If hiking, what are your limits for miles and elevation gain? I ask, because the most scenic and memorable caches I have visited involve terrain 3.5 to 4 hikes, but there are quite a few "winners" in places like Portage Glacier and the Trail of Blue Ice. The Photo Gallery on the GeocacheAlaska! website with the 2014 Calendar photo contest can also give you some ideas, except I just looked and it doesn't include the cache GC#. I'm pretty certain Scott has that information handy.

There are many scenic vistas along Turnagain Arm. LBK's multi Eagles Turnagain View out of the potter's trailhead is a great spot. Does involve about a mile hike in and out but is well worth the effort. Atlasta Surfshop on the TA trail above The Rainbow trailhead is one of my favorites. That too involves about a mile hike in and out but has about 850 ft of elevation gain also. There is a cache down at the Base of the Turnagain pass that you hike out what I think is the old road. Might be called Ingram creek. A short walk on flat ground leads to a bench to sit a bit and take in the views looking up the arm! In town, I would suggest checking out the new Campbell Creek Estuary Natural Park. There is a nice overlook there with a cache called Beluga Overlook. Potters Marsh Boardwalk can provide great vistas and good caching also.

That sounds great, just what I was looking for this weekend. Thanks LBK and akgf519.
