Yup. If the government is (still) shut down on October 5, there will be no open house activities, and the main office will be shut tight.
We'll know a little more by Monday night. I'll keep the lisiting updated, and be sure to post what I know, when I know it. We could shut down on Tuesday, and then magically boot up again a few days later. There's no telling what will happen in Congress...

Look at us geocachers being impacted by government shutdown potentialities! Not the least of the impacts is NeverSummer's paycheck, too. Firmly avoiding sounding political as I say this, the whole 'shutdown' and 'sequestration' gameplaying is reprehensible to this taxpayer, as it plays havoc with people's lives all across the country (and across the world, really) who are dependent on the good faith of their employer. Here's a microcosmic example of how this is playing out all over the country.

Ok My alternate plan is not that far south but I might have issues with weather. Will check with you early in the week.

JOAT, Do you have the signs, flags, and vests from the DOT(for the Girdwood section CITO), or do you need them picked up yet?

Unfortunately, I received the bad news that my uniforms for the new job came in yesterday which means I have to start my week of 12 hr week of nights today. Just finished up three weeks of 12 hr nights, now I'm moving into another week of 12 hr nights. I was really excited to attend this event so I'm going into work kicking and screaming but I don't have to much choice.

Even without Mac, we still managed to have a pretty dang good time! Look for a narrative about our weekend in the next edition of the newsletter. FB & Twitter feeds worked well. And everyone but Mac knows what kind of new smartypants phone I got.

Well, I would have rather been out with the HOBO crew having fun but the new job is going well! Lots of "stuff" to learn and it is a lot busier.
