Whether the Cache Owner adds a hint to their cache page is their choice. However, if a hint is added, it should be useful, not a poke in the eye of the cacher who decodes the hint for a nudge on how to find the cache. Hints such as “none needed,” “too easy for a hint,” “not today,” “e-mail me after you logged your DNF,” should be avoided since they aren’t helpful at all and a cacher wouldn’t be looking at the hint if they didn’t need help. If a Cache Owner doesn’t want to provide a useful hint, it is better to leave the hint field blank.

I don't care for the hint that a cacher who has found a hide gives in their log. This degrades the difficult and ingenuity of the cache and the hard work and thought the owner put into it...and also the thought and time that the hint giving finder spent finding the cache themselves Something to think about...

I tend to agree. Sometimes a person can be rather...coy...about how they might hint about the cache if there is no hint, or a poor hint. Other times, when they all-out write the secret to the hide in their log, it really grates on me. Good time to ask for a log edit, or permanently encypt. ...Until we realize that logs are automatically ROT13'ed within the apps people use on their phone. Lame.

The Cache Owner may control the content on their cache page by encrypting the log or deleting a log with a written or photographic spoiler. Unfortunately, if other cachers have a watch on the cache page, they'll receive the spoiler log in their inbox, regardless of the Cache Owner's actions with the log on the cache page.
