Getting ready for a week trip to Denver. Have created a couple bookmarks for caching days. However, when I download the caches to the GPSr the cache description, hints, and logs aren't there. The cache name and co-ords are listed. SO I can cache with a small handicap. Any clues? The long method of going to the cache page and clicking send to my GPS also has same results. But when I do it for a cache nearby it works fine, everything is there.

If you turn your bookmark list into a pocket query, it should get you a GPX, and those will should have all the info. If you're using the "dowload to LOC" or the "send to GPS" buttons, those files don't include all of the cache info to which Oregon users have become accustomed.

Tzipora makes a good point on the difference between gpx and loc files. It is strange that you're getting the full description for local caches, but not distant ones.
You may also be bumping up against the maximum number of caches the Oregon 400t will store. I believe it's 2000 caches OR 200 gpx files, whichever comes first. I've had my 300 give me an error message when I've exceeded the maximum number of caches, but I've never pushed the 200 gpx file limit.
Are you using GSAK? If so, are your pocket queries loading into GSAK all right?

I believe it is an issue of LOC and GPX. Now if I can figure it out. So I'll run a query against the bookmark and then scratch my head and try to go from there.
Not an issue of too many loaded.
Still don't know why a Send to GPS gives all the info when it's local and not for Denver.
GSAK? Don't know what that is. I have EasyGPS and loaded all the caches to that. But cache info is missing.
Thanks for the replies.

I assumed that the local cache that was used to test the send to GPS function was also included in a pocket query loaded onto the GPS. It was just about the only way I could think of that would have that result.
Otherwise, it could just be an issue of borked code.

Thanks for the replies. If you provide a couple examples of Denver caches that won't load for you, I'll try it from here (New York). GSAK = Geocaching Swiss Army Knife. The program for filtering pocket queries. Blazingpathways and I will be teaching at least one class about it this year at a FUNdamental event. Also, are you running the current firmware and software on your Oregon?

Woo-hoo! Got "the" file manager for geocaches now. Will at least use the free 21 day trial. Page didn't show the cost right off and I was in a rush to try it out. Stumbled around learning a new program. Loaded the query fairly easy and even figured out how to save the secon query as a separate database. Finally got the kms switched to miles. Then found where to check hints to get them to show. Didn't think it worked the first time I downloaded. Everything was the same, I then went into the Garmin file and deleted all the loaded caches. Then downloaded again and it worked!
Thanks again for the assist. Now I'm set to head for the Rockies.

Good point on deleting the "problem" gpx files before attempting to reupload. That will be useful information information for others having similar problems. The Oregon wiki is a great user library for all things Oregon. It's been several years since I paid for GSAK, but I think it's $20, $30 at the most for a one-time fee and ongoing free upgrades. From my persective, it's the best software I've ever paid for in terms of functionality and ease of use (others will differ on the latter, but blazingpathways and I will try to resolve some of the angst during our FUNdamentals presentation). I know EasyGPS is freeware and is a good starting point for bulk loading caches to a GPS, but it doesn't fully support paperless caching with caching-enabled GPSs or PDA program such as Cachemate. Have a great trip!

Short follow up to close out the thread. The Denver trip was a success. Pioneer Woman came down from Washington and we seen some sights and grabbed caches. Denver area is real good for racking up the numbers. Think Palm Springs has higher difficulty and more creative hides. So just enjoy all types and hit it. Denver seems to be where all the old 35mm film canisters have gone.
