This was pretty neat (viewing your track via SPOT). Looks like you're in-country now; Welcome to Alaska!

Yep. We arrived last Sat night. I started work that Monday and we have been searching for apartments since. Today we finally moved into a nice apartment in Wasilla. After unloading my car I fired up the GPS so I could update my home coords and see what was close by. I have 2 ammo cans just itching to be placed somewhere. I also bring a whole lot of ideas for caches I hope to start placing within the next month or two. I suppose I should help the wife setup the apartment first. Once things settle a little (but not much) I plan to have a meet-n-greet somewhere during a weekend. The wife (hideme) and I are looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing caching tales from our new home state. The SPOT was a great addition to the equipment I use to Geocache. It was a peace of mind addition for me and the wife while going through Canada and the Yukon.

There will be cache events the evening of March 23 concurrently in Wasilla (GC24K7Y) and Anchorage (GC24K7E). The events are the first of a series of distance learning events GeocacheAlaska! is pulling off. Re: Ammo cans. Please visit the GeocacheAlaska! Land Managers webpage before you drop them somewhere. Several caches were recently tagged for removal by Alaska State Parks because they were placed without a permit. Cavyguy has taken the lead on remedying that situation...hopefully by obtaining a blanket permit similar to what we have for Chugach State Park.

Will concur with Northwes post about the Welcome to Alaska and it was fun watching the spot tracking everyday! Some long and lonely parts out there but still some great country to see! Hope to meet you soon.

I have already seen 1 geocacher today. I was heading home and passed a Blue Taurus with a geocaching sticker on the rear window. I slowed down but hard to do in traffic. He took the Peters Creek exit. I have a TB stick on my back window so if anyone sees me and you can see the stick through all the dirt feel free to log my car.

Welcome to both of you. NorthernRobin The above comment was not a paid testimonial. We had a great time at the event and are looking forward to meeting more cachers.
