The GeocacheAlaska! incoming and outgoing Directors are meeting on December 1 to begin planning GeocacheAlaska!'s 2010 activities. Please post what you would like to see happen during 2010 in this thread or by e-mailing any of the incoming or outgoing Directors with your ideas.
To start this list and your brainstorming, I suggest:
1. Evening Geocaching 101/201/301 sessions on the Groundspeak website, GSAK, Benchmark hunting, etc.
2. CITO Events
3. Geocaching 10th Anniversary Event (May)
4. Alaska Geocoins and other signature geobling.
5. Sixth Annual GeoFest

POWMIA, I am looking into the possibilities and options for getting us into the Rondy Parade. Keep looking for updates within the next couple of weeks. :-)

I am sure we could even ride our bikes, the streets should be clear. Maybe TR or Malcore would like to ride the ATV's I think it would be cool to have some temp caches (just a couple) set up along the parade route and actually have cachers find them during the parade for the public to "SEE" what geocaching actually is. Of course have another cacher at each cache to keep an eye on them prior to the group of cachers passing by in the parade and then to remove the caches after they have been "found & logged by the group and put back in place" so they do not disappear.

I got all the Rondy information. It will be Feb 26- Mar 7 2010. It will be the 75th anniversary of the Rondy and the 10th anniversary of Geocaching. We have a few options to decide on and if if they can be done as GeocacheAK! sponsoring it. The following are some options: 1.) Outhouse races- on Saturday 2/27/10 at 330 pm. $50 entry fee plus materials. Depending on the category will determine how many races there will be, but there can always be plenty of builders! I personally would love to see us racing an ammo can outhouse with Signal on the toilet! I have a list of the rules and also here is a link www.furrondy.net/images/stories/2010_event_registrations/2010_outhouse_race_registration.pdf. 2.) The Grand Parade is Saturday 2/27/2010 at 1030 am. The cost is only $40 for all participants. We can all march along the route, and I really do like the caching along the route idea. We can have our banner and possibly try to have Signal march with us. We also have the option to build a float, all suggestion are welcome! Might be sponsored by Geocachealaska if the is enough interest and participation by geocache members and family (this does have to be voted on soon) www.furrondy.net/images/stories/2010_event_registrations/2010_parade_entryform.pdf3.) The Running of the Reindeer- Sunday 2/28/9 3pm. This event is definately fun, I personally hope I can do it this year. It is a $25 per person entry fee. Each person would be responsible to pay their fee. It would be fun to have some type of theme for this one! www.furrondy.net/images/stories/2010_event_registrations/2010_runningofreindeer.entry.pdfPlease email me: arcticbutterfly@hotmail.com so I can start making a list of participants and such. And with enough support I will make the event anouncements as they become viable. Sooner the better for the planning fun! None of these event IDEAS are confirmed nor have they been voted on by the Geoak board yet. These are just ideas that will need volunteer work. And I would like confirmed voluteers before I present them to the board members at the next meeting. This will help insure these events will run as smooth as possible. Thank you!Confirmed voluteers so far are: 1. Akbfly 2. Akrambo 3. Tinman4x 4. AK-DSP

If you decide to do the parade, here is a link to an event of some cachers that were going to be in a parade but due to a mix up, couldn't enter. They had already built their float, and some pictures are contained in some early posts. They made a large ammo can on a trailer. GC20V0X -- Cachers on Parade...Well, Almost

Did the Fur Rendezvous parade event happen? I checked for photos in various places (ADN, fur rondy site). I saw about 2 parade photos.
