I did a quick search of the site, and came up with nothing - so, sorry in advanced if this has already been posted.

Li1Gray told me about this awesome mapset.

If you have a Garmin you are sure to be happier with this MapSet in your GPSr.

Thanks to the likes of oleruns, flyrfn, malcore, and OMGCrew, you'll find a great many of the popular trails loaded for Alaska!

Anyway, I get $1,000,000 for every download of the mapset, so please help make me rich.

If you have a GPSmap 60 you should be using the "Lo-res", the "Hi-Res" is for the Colorado and Oregon.
	If it's too small to have a pencil in it, it shouldn't be in the woods

Geocache placement should be all about location. Please take me to an area that features a great view, a historic site, an oddity, a cool geological feature, an area of special interest, or a pleasant walk through an area I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. It doesn’t have to be a place of outstanding beauty, but it should be a cut above the ordinary and will make me say "cool!”

A little thread bump to remind folks that the NW Trails mapset is a dynamic tool. Thanks to folks like lilgray, cavyguy, Team Meister, and many other cachers out there, new trails are being added to the NW Trails map all the time.

I just downloaded and installed the most recent set today and was pleasantly surprised to see that Moun10bike has recently integrated a massive amount of National Wildlife Refuge official trail maps to the package. We now have all of the regular hiking and canoe trails from the Kenai NWR, Resurrection Pass, Johnson Pass and similar areas included in the trail set. Simply awesome.

I'm eager to help add to the trail set as I know of so many trails that are not yet in there. What a great project this is!

Thanks, Scott! I get so much use out of that mapset - both here in Alaska, and in the PacNW when I'm visiting...

I'd go so far to say it's one of the five top geocaching products out there - and it's free (although users are urged to pony up some appreciation money to send to the individual who does all the hard work to create it!) It's one of the first things I urge new geocachers to acquire.

Ammocanitarian/Earthcachenarian, but tolerant of other Ways to GeoSmiley enhancement...

Benchmark hunting - an exercise in accuracy, or best of all a challenging histo-archaeological time-travel geo-puzzle. Both versions let you reach out and touch a datum point on the Earth's surface, measured across three dimensions as well as the planet's gravity and magnetic fields.
