What are the "Must Do" Anchorage area caches? I will be coming up from SW WA to visit my father on the redeye flight March 5th and would like to do some geocaching while I am up here. Thanks. PastorDIC (Russ)

I am looking for quality caches.
I wouldn't need to ask the question if i was just looking for numbers. All I would have to do then was have GSAK export to HTML and have it give me the spot with the largest density of caches in Anchorage.

There are a lot of quality caches in the Anchorage area and local cachers would like to help you out. You can help us by telling us whether you are interested in hiking, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, puzzle solving, driving or??? Are you interested in gnarly evil hides, hides with great views, or a cross section of all of the above? For starters, go to the GeocacheAlaska! Alaska Cache Information webpage where you will find canned Anchorage-area searches, local cachers' bookmark lists of favorites, and downloadable maps of some of the larger Anchorage parks with cache locations marked on them. Happy travels!!!

Views, a few ingenious/evil hides, some drive by that have somthing interesting.
We are spending most of our time in Anchorage (where dad lives) with a day trip to Wasilla so I can have a good sled dog ride.
I should use a cane most of the time due to peripheral neuropathy, and my dad HAS to use a cane. I'm not sure what he can do since his health went downhill this winter.
I already plan on doing the Anchorage Sun series, Coastal trail memorial #1, Eastchester, Sydney's View. I have been thinking about It's a Jungle Out There, but I notest the most recent ones are 3 DNFs in a row.

I challenge cachers to find my cache 5SportsIn1, it has a number of favorite points and people seem to really enjoy it, once it's found anyway.
I just recently found a very cool one and it's been there since 2008. GC1F46G; Hanging out with grandma and grandpa betula.
How bout GC3WBD1; If it where a snake #1.

Since I arrived back home, December 4, 2012, after a 5 year run about , I see that I "Must Do" close to 1600 just within 20 miles of homeplate to begin to catch up.

The first step to the Zen of Caching is to cast off the idea that you must find every cache.

Shocking, yes? Hard to master for many, but once you get there, you'll buy GSAK and apply filters. Then you must master step two; applying filters that will remove many caches from your "home plate". Learn to let them go and many new possibilities for fun and challenging caches will appear on the distant horizon. Go to them.
;D
