Wilder Construction has paved the road into Kincaid Park! Yippee! They've done a nice job too, although the gate area at the midpoint parking lot was still getting fixed up today. Next week watch for new signs to be installed (as early as Monday) 'naming' new parking areas, etc. Will be interesting to see if folks find the ditch faster now, because the roadway will handle faster speeds... Now to see how the stadium turns out, as well as the hillwork to the east of it. Here's a few photos from last night... This was taken at the bridge area looking east. Note the paved trail access 'pockets' (one's seen at right); these will help race organizers & trail groomers. There was a wicked little detour right through the paved parking area at the gate. An odd 'cobblestone texture' crosswalk was installed across the road at the east end of this zone; remains to be seen how it fares under the pressure of the plowblade this winter. The theory is it helps delineate the crosswalk without paint stripes, and provides a textured surface for visually impaired users. Upgrades to the stadium area continue; the 'old' bridge will be installed over the new race trail ramp coming up westwards out of the stadium (to pass in front of the chalet's north-facing windows). The new race trail is an improvement of the old trail, and can be seen leaving the stadium area to the immediate left of the orange excavator.

They're getting the park ready for Junior Olympics! Yup - NSAA was talking to me today about ordering a large quantity of pin flags for trailmarking that event. Cool, eh?

They're getting the park ready for Junior Olympics! I heard they will not be ready in time and will be moved to Russian Jack and Chugiak. But the facilities are too small so Sophomores will not be allowed to compete.
